What is your competition nemesis?

I rather too inclined to show-jump open poley oxers on a XC course - that one in the Int at Belton never fails to scare me. If it was a table of the same dimensions I'd attack it like hell!.

Thanks for that

Oh and dressage judges they are never very appreciative of what you do manage - all those comments like bend not maintained; well it was a miracle we had it for a millisecond, they always seem to pick up on what isn't done more than what's done well or perhaps that's just me!

I'd much prefer bend achieved although not maintained!

Kerilli I can never get more than a 5 at it

Trakehners and fences with ditches in front of them - but only on the chestnut because I know he'll very likely stop at them.

Grey horse - basically any open field that looks vaguely like a racetrack. Instant facelift (and incontinence).

. I'd be joining you jumping it if only Carthorse had shown any signs of XC co-operation when Belton entries opened

. Now that we've played safe and entered the boring ol' Novice he is sweetness and light itself....

Ummm well my horse doesnt like roof fences/owl holes so now i dont really! - I hate it when they are in a course.

BE showjumping on a slope - makes it soooo much harder

Gates SJ & XC Had a little mare stop get her front feet through one (sj) and pull it off the wings ... never liked them since

Planks, particularly if said planks are shiny and wavy, and even more so when they're shiny and wavy and make up the front of a wide oxer. I just don't like them (had a couple of nasty falls at, over and into planks in my time!). Jack however doesn't seem too perturbed by them, but he can have a good look at water trays - there's piranhas in them don't you know? He's usually brave enough to have a go though.

Never had the chance to do one properly before (only a slightly tamer version at an indoor show) but think riding down to an open water may be a bit terrifying... Might get a shot this year though if jumping comes along as planned...

I hate warming up, I jump worse in the warm up compared to the ring, I think I get the 'I've paid how much to do this mentality' in the ring so kick a bit harder. Also the first fence, if I'm going to have any fence it will be the first one.

For those of you who don't like a spread as the first part of a combination, a course builder told me that it is a lot easier having it that way - which is why they build it like that so much unaffliated.

Yes, I was told that too by a course builder but never believed him. That is until I got the horse I've got now who struggles with the distances. Its much easier for him to jump the parallel in and if he needs to squeeze in an extra stride out over a upright. If it was the other way round I would be really panicking. God, I hope its a parallel first tomorrow

XC - I hate really narrow boxy fences as they're so easy to miss!

Dressage - I hate dressage full stop! Absolutely detest it, I get utterly ill over doing it. I only do it at BE to get to the fun jumpy bits!

SJ - I dont like wide fences, Id much rather jump a big upright than a wide smaller spread.

Yup, same here. We are in the minority though - most people I speak to seem to prefer spreads. They must all be mad!

Double of corners or corner/skinny to skinny/corner on a curving line. I ride them like crap as I never turn early enough. Hoping now I am aware of this foible I will get better at it.

I hate the Sjing I just do not have the confidence in my abilities and also lose the ability to make rational decisions! I have a horse now that is a very capable Sjer so hoping to get better at this phase.
