I've had lots of horses over the years, but when I went shopping for my first one, Star, she was perfect for me. She may be a rather solid 16.2, and me at the time was a rather tiny 15 year old, (and everyone at the livery yard tutted and said I would kill myself with her
) But for the last 11 years she has done nothing but look after me. She was a wonderful schoolmistress, taught me loads, and although she's a grumpy moo with strangers or whatever, we have a great bond and I trust her so much.
Ironically I fell off her when I tried her out
but in 11 years since haven't even come close. She now, at 22, is as much as a star as ever and is *perfect* for my mother as her hack as she looks after her, look good together and have great fun
When I went shopping for Believe 2 1/2 years ago I had *very* precise check list of what I wanted. I was mocked quite a lot by my mother and friends for how very specific I was being,
but I kept looking, knowing the right one was out there. 15 months of searching and I saw her ad, and I just *knew* she was the one
She's been with us for almost 16 months now, I can can hand on heart say she is even more perfect than I thought possible
I feel very lucky to have found my wonderful girls

I wanted something bigger, about 16.2 and finer, but apart from that he is perfect. We go on 4 hour hacks alone, and he has been able to do something I never thought possible - given me my confidence back with jumping. He does a bit of everything at RC level and will go hunting this winter.
That's my idea of a perfect horse - a forward going but safe and sensible all rounder.

Snap! Hen is my boy! He was bought as a hack, I never wanted to do anything else again. But since then we have gone hunting and this year did our first BE! I love jumping again
He has given me so much confidence that he is no longer my "perfect" horse, I would love something a bit more capable, but in reality Hen will always be my perfect pony! I would love to buy another, but until the day I can afford both, Hen will go nowhere. He'll be with me until the end (hopefully).

Me too, the worst thing being I was dumped by 17hh of hairy, fat carthorse!! He whipped round quicker than any pony and I just rolled off the side!
Apparently he had done it to everyone that tried him, I was the only one that was foolish enough to go back!
My mother even said to me "I wouldn't feel safe knowing you were riding that horse" Now she loves him more than she loves me!
My mum would be bombing round on Hen if she wasn't broken! She just wouldnt be abe to get on/off, kick, pull etc etc!
She has looked after him for me for a couple of months, and for someone who is terrified of horses it was pretty brave of her!
The fact that he acts like a large dog for her helps!
My perfect horse (although at just under 14hh she wasnt a horse!) was Honey, she taught me such alot, including how to be patient! She was a pretty bay cob and loved jumping. I was lucky enough to spend 10 lovely years with her, she taught lots of kids to ride, took me to my first shows, she was a real allrounder. I used to lead our youngster from her and she never kicked, but if he got in front of her she soon told him off! She was a real character and i wish i had her for my girls to ride now, no matter how many horses weve had theres never going to be another Honey, i was very lucky.
That youngster i used to lead from her is Jimmy, he is the best schoolmaster my youngest daughter could have, he really is a superstar although he is 25 now!! Dont tell him, he still thinks hes 3. Shes a very lucky girl to have him and he is going to be a very hard act to follow.
My shared horse is my perfect horse! She is not too tall but not too short - 16'3. Not too fat but not too thin - a modern elegant hanoverian. Easy to keep clean - shes black! Pretty - she has a crescent shaped star. She even makes me look good which is a very tall order indeed.
The only thing I would change are her sensitive feet.
I just wish I could work out how to do a siggy or to change my avatar so I can put a pic of her up!
