What is your mucking out process?

Mine has a deep shavings bed, with wood pellets in the pee spot. Skip out every morning, take out the wet when a dark stain comes to the top, and replace with more pellets. His bed is around six inches deep and well packed down.
This is what I do mine mainly live out so I only take the wet out every few weeks as they don't come in for long.

* put feeds in
*put kettle on to boil
*fill haynets for pens and put in pens
*put first lot of hay in to steam and refill kettle
*skip poos out with a poop scooper (on straw)
*fill waters
*change rugs and turnout (one is a veeeeeeery slow eater hence doing a few jobs round him)
*top up first hay and put second lot in to steam
*muck out wet and tidy beds
*chuck up muck heap
*top up final hay
*do feeds
*sweep up

takes me about 50min to do 2 horses. both pretty neat in stable.

I used be fairly quick, but with new horse I walk in , look at the mess, curse the messy bugger and then spend 30min trying to sort clean from dirty and reassemble something like a bed 🙄

I don't think he box walks, I think he spins in circles and digs like a dog before lying down 🫣

Dave has written a book called "Enrichment for your Human"
Subtitled "Hiding your poo & other ways of keeping Mam busy & not thinking about tiring things like exercising you"

His stable can look so tidy & immaculate, until you start to move stuff about, then there's poo hidden under what looks like clean bed, poo under bed that's been lain on, etc.

Arrive at yard and feed (feds made up the previous evening), while they are eating put hay out in the field.

Turnout - they sleep in their turnout rugs.

Muck out 2 stables, one very clean, one dirty. The first stable is really just picking up neat poos and levelling the bed. The second stable has to have the bed thrown up every day so the poo rolls to the floor. Add exxtra bedding if needed.

Do waters and haynets, put one net into soak.

Make up feeds for evening and following morning.

This takes about 1 hour. I am semi retired now, did the same in 40 mins when I was working full time.

Nowadays I walk the dog next and then bring my riding horse in to work.

I have recently moved from Shavings to straw bedding. I do feed and prep the one for the evening at the same time, tie her up outside to eat. While she eats I take off the poo and any obvious wee. She tends to do it all in one corner which makes my life quicker and easier! I basically deep litter during the week, cleaning out that one corner and any visible extra bonus poos. Then I add fresh straw to make it nice and deep and fresh. Do hay nets and water, change rug and turnout.

At the weekend and my weekday day off I toss all good straw onto the banks, and leave it up all day for the floor to dry out, then put it back down before bringing her in so she gets a completely fresh and dry bedding with new straw twice a week.

Straw beds

Poo out, bank up round the edge, wet out middle, beds down and straw added as needed.

Do all beds then all feeds

Then haynets for everyone … for 24 hours

Check waterers and clean if needed …

Sweep yard

I do have enough haynets for 2 days so if busy one day will do double the day before and skip out only that day …

I can do a full stable (straw bed) including hay, water and feed in 20/25mins.

I need to be quick in the mornings as I have to shower before I go to work.

Feeds and haynets are made up in advance weeks worth for hay and four days worth for feeds. I add straw at the weekend and store it in the bankings so he’s getting fresh daily. He’s prettt clean tbf
