What is your routine after exercise?

I always walk my horses (under saddle) for about 10mins after i have finished schooling to let them cool down, if its cold then with a thermatex over the top of them. Then i tie in stable, un tack, stick 'wicking' rug on (ie thermatex or fleece), take off boots, sponge girth area and round mouth. Pick out feet, brush off legs. Thast about it. Archie is fully clipped, but i do the same with Bloss who isnt clipped, minus the rug.

I use the warm water from the kettle to wash off then cooler, feed and out in TO rug if fine in with dry rugs if wet

Well I won't wash off in this cold weather, weird aren't I?

So since mines a hairy beast it's walk off at end of session to try and dry off a bit then give a good brush through when untakced. If still wet then put a cooler on.

I mean it was 1 degree when I finished my ride last night and humid so he was still very soggy esp his neck but no way would I have put water anywhere near him as the temeperature was still dropping, a good rub with a towel , brush and then cooler on.

YO said she'd put his stable rug on when she did late night checks.

Wash off, both horses react to their sweat! hose legs off with cold water. Throw onto walker with a cooler.
ATM they are out so turn them back out. They are coming in next week, so then will be tucked up in bed

millie is fully clipped- normally due to me hacking ..she is pretty much walked for at least 10 mins before i get home. Schooling out hacking normally means shes cooled off before i get anywhere near home. So just un-tack and rug up-turn out/in stable depending on time of day

When clipped, I hose legs/Girth area, sling rug over bum (folded in half) and put him in stable

Do chores (haynets/feeds/water/tidy up/skip out)

Brush off and put rugs on

Feed

Weekends, when not feeding, I do the same but he is tied on the yard and has his t/o rug on.

Mine is very hairy, but has a chaser clip (think that's what it's called), and sweats a lot.

In summer I hose him off the seat scraper him, then turn back out.

In winter I ride him round in walk for 5-10 mins to cool off, then hop off, give him a big kiss, dither about taking his saddle off, grab him from wherever he's wandered off to, take his bridle off, grab him again, realise leaving him loose is a bad idea

, then tie him up. I put his fleece on him if it's very cold, and if he's really really sweaty I sponge him off, then put his fleece on. Then I dither about filling his haynet, washing his bit, putting my tack away, making his dinner, giving him kisses...then I take his rug off put him back in his stable and give him his dinner. Then I give him his bedtime kiss and off I go
