what is your routine...

Get up and eat breakfast. Head to yard to muck out, groom and ride (If I don't ride in the morning then I tend to run out of time and don't get around to it!) then turnout. Try to be done by 10. Day to myself (unless running around doing feed/bedding runs or working!). Bring in around 4/4:30, soak hay and make teas and feed. Routine is the same every day unless I'm lunging in which case I lunge after bringing in early. Not so much fun in the winter as there is just too much dark time!!

Up, dressed and head to yard (25 min drive). Feed, rug and turnout (only in school atm due to injury). Fill haynets for him and his buddy in school and check water. Muck out stable, fill haynets for evening. Try to be in work just after 8.

Try to leave work as near 5 as possible, head out to yard, fill water and bring in. Quick groom, pyjamas on and feed. Skip out school.

Fit in riding other horses as and when :)

Bit fed up but it's much better than when he was on full box rest with walking out in hand 2x daily.

:)

Get up at 6:15 (argh :( ) yard for 7am.
Turn out the 3 beasties.
Muck out my 2 (other is my friends) hay & water.
Do feeds for night.
Leave yard at 8:20 to walk a mile & a half to the bus stop, bus at 8:45 , work for 9.

Leave work at 5, home for half past, straight to the yard, fetch the beasties in, feed then home.

Then either pub with the OH or sofa night :)

5:30am Alarm
5:50 - get up dressed, dogs out, dogs in
6:10 - get in car, drive stables
6:20 - arrive stables.

Feed round, take haynets out as I put feeds in.
Fill nets and muck out Lottie while they eat
Muck out B and S, back in box, muck out Shoe (if tues or thurs, her mom does other days)
Empty poop, tack up S (this should be no later than 7am)
Ride half hour

7:30 untack S and rug up
Turn out B and S
Turn out L and Shoe
7:50 - Get in car and drive home (normally ends up being 8!)
8 -830 walk dogs and feed them
8:30 - 8:40 shower, dress for work, make up etc
8:45 rush to office

Evening
5 leave office
5:15 - 5:30 beds down, nets up, feeds made for tea and next morning, head collars ready

Sorry long, hope it helps!

Am exhausted just reading these. You guys are all super-women.

I spend most of the day looking after my toddler unless I have work when she either goes to nursery or to my mum. We're up at 6:00 then full on until she goes to bed at 7:30.

At some point during the day, I drive to my pony's field (15min drive), make up two feeds, carry toddler and feeds up to field and do a general check. Also top up water from neighbouring stream if necessary. On Sunday I leave toddler with my mum so I can poo-pick (takes about 40mins). On work days, my mum will check the ponies for me.

Don't get a lot of chances to ride at the moment as toddler's father is not around much but I tend to slack off in winter anyway. Ponies are unshod, unclipped and unrugged so pretty much take care of themselves. I look back on my pre-child days when I had horses stabled 24/7 through winter and wonder why I did it. LOL

5.45am - Alarm goes off
6.15 - Crawl very reluctantly out of bed
6.15-6.40 - Let out dog, Feed dog and cat. Wash, get dressed, out the door.
7.00 - Arrive at yard
7.20 - 8.00 Ride
8.00-8.30 - Untack, turnout, get changed, make up, straighten hair in tack room. Leave dog with mum.
9.00 - 5.00 - Work
5.20 - 6.00 - Arrive at yard, mix feed, grab pony, change rugs, check over, polos, cuddles, grab dog and home or to friends.

Then in the evenings, I have a shower and pack work clothes and lunch for the next day and do it all again!! :o

Weekends are easier. Laying in bed till 7 is a lie in.

Hmm, currently Mon-Wed (parents do them Thurs-Fri) am up at 5:45am, drive 10 mins to stables (sister meets me there) we muck out and feed and generally I get back to mine about 6:40 or so, get showered and leave house normally about 7:45 to get to work anytime between 8:30 and 9am. 5mpm, leave work (although I have to walk 1 mile or so - so 10-15mins - to car park). Normally will get to field then about 5:45pm. At the moment as sister's horse is on box rest/paddock rest, the parents are going down ajust before 5pm to let him out and graze a bit in hand.

Weekends - stables at about 8:30 to 9am, muck out feed, ride whatever. Have the rest of the day to myself the back to the stables about 4:30pm to bring in and feed etc again.

I don't ride during the week in the winter as we have no facilities to ride at night so, essentially I am just a slave to the horses! Things may have to change a bit from next week when i am taking on a rescue dog! Roll on spring i say!!!

I'm up at 5.15, drive to the yard munching a crumpet, arrive at yard by 5.45 latest. Feed round, give mine a sliver of hay so her tummy isn't empty, tack up and in the school by 6am. Ride till 6.40 ish, muck out, rug up, waters done and pony in field eating breakfast and me in the car by 7am. Whizz home, sort out kittens, kick OH out of bed and into shower, stick the bacon under the grill, sort clothes, turn bacon over and open back door to remove smoke.....

Turn grill off, leave bacon under to finish and race up stairs into shower.... Kick cat out of bathtub, climb in.... Rescue towel from floor where OH launched it, finish he bacon sarnies. Forget sauce. Remember sauce as I get back upstairs.
Lose make up bag. Find in briefcase. Swear I'll put it back today.

Fight the non bath loving cat for my suit, sling it on and pretend ironing is so last season.....

Assemble both me and partner in car with briefcases, and a matching pair of stilettos and off to work by 7.45am.

Run around Mayfair and slither to the office for 9.02am, bearing coffee as apologies....

Out of London for 7pm most days, straight to yard to finish up, home to make supper, drink wine, and bed at 10.30.

Start again. Lol

Brilliant!

Get up at 6am
Shower, dress and leave house by 6.25am
Arrive at yard 6.30am
Feed, change rugs, boots etc and have three out in fields by 6.55am
Make coffee, check diary for notes etc by 7am.
Muck out 3 stables, re do waters, make up 6 nets, and 9 feeds. This takes me through to about 8.30.
Wash hands, sort hair, get changed and go to work to start at 9am.

I take my lunch hour from 2pm - 3pm.
In that time I go to the yard, catch in my 3, change rugs, boots etc and pick put feet.
I also catch in a friends horse.

Finish work about 5.30pm
Ride or lunge at least one.
Feed, put in haylage for the night, skip out, top up water, faff about a bit! This takes me about 45 mins so depending whther or not they are ridden/linger I get home anywhere between 6.30pm and 9pm.

 Do you lot ever get time to eat or breathe? I'd go nuts with all that rushing about and clock watching.

Every day is different with me...what is it now? Just gone 11am. My day so far:

7am out of bed (late today)
Sometime between 7 and 7.30, let dogs out, got dressed, intravenous coffee, fed horse in barn, hustled child out of the house for the bus, retrieved dogs.

By 8.30 I'd turned out the stalled horse, slung hay to the horses in the small paddocks that don't have round bales, skipped out 9 stalls (farrier was here yesterday and I didn't clean them out after he'd gone) mucked out 1 stall, put fresh shavings down, done his hay and water for tonight.

By 9.30 I'd had more coffee, swept the house, done one load of dishes, stripped the beds, stroked various cats, fed/cleaned rabbits in three different hutches, put the goats out.

By the time I came in just now, I have wrenched my knackered shoulder, sworn a lot, swallowed a couple of diclofenac, bought in a load of logs and done a mug sweep outside - 5 mugs collected - not bad for me. Spent 25 minutes with the unhandled weanling colt who is now giving me turns and walking beside me, yesterday he just ran around the round pen on the lunge. Obviously thought about it overnight and decided I am nicer close up ;) I've also sold a horse, made a straight swap for another, and arranged to deliver one and pick one up at the weekend - God Bless cell phones eh?

AND the sun is shining and it feels far warmer than the 3C the thermometer say it is:)

I've been quite productive today...so far, some days I have got to this hour and am just considering mucking out. Now, emails....

Some parts of my days chnge about a bit but the core is;
Alarm off at 6.20, out of bed 6.30................must smoke at least 2 roll ups!
Remaining school age son up to wash/shower at 7 and make sure all of his school stuff is easily to hand
Get son's breakfast, tidy round, maybe pop to the shop if urgent until 8.15
8.15 see off son and go to yard/work
Friend puts Markie out at 6am, so, at 8.30 do his stable/get stuff ready for the evening until 9 when I start work.
Work can be as minimal as mucking out 4 boxes and seeing to retired grass liveries (about an hour and a half) to maximum of mucking out 4 boxes, seeing to retireds, exercising dogs, cleaning 6 holiday caravans, preparing natives for showing (about 8 hours, but not that often).
Once work is done, bring Markie in and play, either ride in school, strap him or, if there's somebody sensible about, go for a hack.
I teach privately when I don't much other work for the day, never more than 2 45 min sessions though.
Then, go home, sort out OH's medication and physio, organise clean clothing and hoover if I can't see the floor. Go shopping if needed.
Twice per week I bring in 3 horses (incl Markie) as we help each other out.
Start cooking tea about 5 ish.
Tea etc usually done by 6.30, then bath/shower.
Technically, then my time is my own unril bedtime around 11 ish.

Sounds like I do loads, but it doesn't feel like it! When my kids were small, OH and I both worked full time, opposing shifts (so we didn't pay childcare) and my day was totally full on. I never got time to myself, no way could I have fitted in a horse then!

On my part loan (week)days:

5.45am - alarm
6.15am - actually get up :o
6.30/40 am - at stables. Change rug, make up breakfast, feed breakfast, muck out, get hay ready - fill up water tub to soak, turn horse out.
7.15am - home, shower, dress, makeup, brekkie
8.10-15am - go to work
8.30 am-5.15 pm - work
5.30pm - go straight to stables. Bring bed down, do waters, get feeds ready, drain hay. Bring horse in, groom, pick feet out, change rugs. Feed and hay. Feed and hay youngster.
6.30pm - home! Spend the night studying for my online course or watch tv/with friends/bf etc

On the weekdays I don't look after the horse I'm up at the same time to go for a run!

Weekend I get to the yard at 8am, groom, tack up, hack for 1hr/1hr 30 (depending how nappy he is!) or school, groom again, rug up, turn out, muck out, soak hay, do feeds, poo-pick, clean tack. Back at the yard around 5pm to bring bed down, water, drain hay, make up feed, bring in, feed. Feed and hay youngster.

However - I love it! :)

I don't have a particularly strict routine, just do things as and when there is time really :)

Mine varies on different days.
Mon & tues (no college) & Sat, get up & get to yard for 9- 9.30, turn out (unless it's frosty, then the owner of the horses he is out with will put him out early because one of hers cant go out cause its prone to lammi), skip out, make feed/hay net. Home by 9.30- 10ish. Back up the yard about 4.30 to bring in. Either ride before i turn out or get there earlier in the eve to ride.
Wed is the same, but got to the yard at 10 on my way to college, unless hes already been turned out. Then im back at 3.45 to muck out/ride/bring in. Muck out at some point during the day too

Thurs & Fri (i have college)
Yard for 8.15 to turn out, then straight to college. back to the yard between 3.30-4, muck out, bring in/ ride.

Get up with baby (9 weeks) feed put on fleecy babygrow, dress myself, leave for yard (usually 7.50 to 8.00) get to yard, baby in car asleep by this time, ride muck out feed and nets for night time turn out.

Home to do housework, every day housework is Hoover up and down, mop kitchen and hallway floor and wipe down bathrooms. Then mon and fri I do my washing en mass and go to launderette and dry. Washing up kitchen cleaning and bottles etc are done in the afternoon along with any errands. Yard at 4.00 to put to bed then home for dusting/ clean up after dog, make hubby's lunch. Hubby comes home dinner and collapse!

Looks like I'm the only upsidedowney :D
I work 12 hr shifts at night, 3 nights one week, 4 the next, 8pm - 8am, so I come home and go to bed as you guys are getting off to work. I usually sleep til lunchtime, then over to the yard (30 min drive) and poo pick, check the girls and do their feet. On my days off I pretty much spend all day at the yard, and ride. Luckily I have an understanding OH who cooks. I clean as and when it gets too disgusting to tolerate :D, my kids are grown up, I spent years doing the perfect housewife/mummy thing, now I figure it's time for me!!!!!
