What is your routine?

My boy is on DIY, I have 3 main routines:

If I'm working a late shift; Down in the morning, ride, turnout, muck out and all other chores, have to be back home by 9.30 in order to shower and leave the house by 10.30am. He's bought in by a friend.

If I'm working an early shift; Friend turns out. Get to the yard anywhere between 3.30-4.30, ride, turn him back out in the paddock, muck out/chores then bring in.

If I'm not working it's like a late shift day except I plan to be down the yard until 10.30 but regularly don't get home until lunchtime :p

Arrived at 7.15. Feed, hay, poo pick. No riding for me at the mo as have a poorly 27yr old and a 2yr old. Old lady is off to horsepital on thur so hopefully she'll be better soon

Keep mine at home, in the summer it's ideal 1) draw curtains and check horses are a - alive and b - where they should be then ride and check over properly at some point in the day. When you watch them all the time you learn to see from a great distance when they are happy or not from how they are standing.
In winter, up at 7am (before my son!) throw them out, mid morning go back out with my son/ dogs etc in tow and muck out, I get them back in again just before dark, ride (sometimes) after my son's in bed say 7 ish and do a late night check hay/ water top up about 9ish.

Got my boy at home on box rest.

7am, Feed. Hug.

7.30am, Turn out in yard (with chickens and quinea fowl) with some hay and half a swede. Muck out, clean feed bowl and water bucket.

8am, Take off rug if used. Groom, pick out feet, give haynet and back in stable after help to sweep yard.

12am, Haynet and skip out.

4pm, Feed and skip out. Pick out feet. Turn out on yard

6pm, Return to stable. Haynet and skip out. Clean feed bowl and water bucket if it needs it.

9-10pm Haynet and skip out. Rug up (fleece only) if needed. Hug.

Water checked at every visit.

I don't see mine in the week :-(

Well trained hubby tends to him under the watchful eye of YO.

He lives out so in the morning it is simply check rug, poo pick, clean and disinfect feet, prepare hay and feed for later, let him into the back paddock for more grass.

In the evening my very kind YO feeds and shuts the back paddock gate.

We have automatic waterers :-)

In the summer and at weekends I get to go have fun, too!

On an in day either me or sharer go up in the morning, muck out, ride and give a haynet for rest of the day (yard feed hay and water am) then put him back in his stable then i will go up again in the afternoon (or stay there all day if i get carried away) then muck out hay maybe ride again and then put him to bed.

On the days he is out the yard change rugs and put out, i go up at anytime and muck out ect then bring in and ride and put to bed.

Turn my 2 out at 8am.
Muck out, Fill haynets, Change water. Natter to liveries.
Leave at 9am

3 Days a week, at 3pm I roll up at another yard (have a share horse) Bring in (or muck out if hes in) and ride. Leave at 4.30pm

Get to my yard at 5pm. Hang nets up, make feed. Fetch my 2 in.
Pick hooves out, Wash feed buckets, change rugs.
:D

Winter routine with 4 on DIY

Get to yard for 6.15 feed, do Haynets for evening
Change rugs and do waters
Turnout
Muck out sweep and tidy
Prepare evening feeds
Leave for work 8.15

Someone brings in at 2pm

Get to yard 5.30
Skip out,top up nets, waters
Quick brush/feet and a cuddle each
Pjs on and dinner time!

When living out: Arrive at yard 7:15ish, grab hay, give breakfasts in field, shove hay in hay hutch, poo pick like mad, leave 7:50 to be at work for 8.
Arrive about 5ish for giving horses their dinners and some more poo picking.

When living in at night: Arrive at yard for 7, soak hay, make up night sacks(of hay that very kind non-horsey stable yard owner gives them at about 10pm), make feeds for 24 hrs, grab hay & shove in hay hutch. Change horses out of pj's and into turnout rugs, and then shove em out. Try my hardest to leave at 7:50, getting the hang of it at last!
I come back before my PM shift say half two to bring them in, swap rugs and give hay (oh and muck out :D). If other horse owner is doing it she brings them in an hour or so later (before it gets dark).
Come back at 5 to give dinners.

The yard is just the two of us(three including my weekend sharer sister) so we just take it in turns to do the days. If my sister or other horse owner is doing it, the routine may shift slightly as we have our different ways of getting things done :D

Keep my 2 at home.
Up at 6:30, feed,T/O, muck out, leave beds up to air. Make feeds soak hay. Dog walk if my turn.
Back in at 7:15-7:30for shower and coffee in bed with daughter, before work at 8:30.
Work until 1:30,beds down horses in and while digesting grass I grab lunch, put washing out, dull housework stuff!
Exercise both as much as daylight will allow, then hay in winter or back out in paddock in summer I am usually back insidefor 4:00 when daughter returns from school.
Summer, get them in before dark, with small feed/ hay
Winter, pop back out to feed and hay anytime between 7 and 9 .
Poo picking & other chores done on Mon/Fri my riding days off, as we tend to have longer hacks or compete ( rarely now) at weekends.

I have 3 at my parents DIY yard.
My husband turns out at about 5am during week, gives breakfast if needed. We tend to only change rugs at nightif one of us is off the next day or at weekends!
I then muck out, hay nets and make evening feeds before I go to work ( my mum looks after my son so have to go up there)

Field is poopicked most days afterwork - mid afternoon
All 3 Come in around 5!

Weekends and days off tend to vary slightly depending on what we are doing and I ride on days off or days I can leave work early!

On DIY arrive about 6.30 haynets/feed (plus the to gingers)
Muck out do waters nets feed for later
Ride/lunge for 30 to 40 mins.Turnout if fields not water logged.
Back home for 8.00 shower have to be at work for 8.45 but only live 5mins away
Finish work 5.00 at yard by 5.30 skip out bed down groom take for walk if not been in sand paddock, haynet feed water kiss nose leave home for 6.30.

Mine lives out the majority of the time.
Mon/tues/thurs - go up after work at around 6.30pm, usually bring in to stable, take rug off and check over, quick brush off if needed, pick feet out, give feed, replace rug, put back out in field, check water trough, give hay in winter.
Weds (when I start work late) and fri/sat/sun (no work) - will go to yard earlier, add in riding or lunging, a proper groom, and poo pick field, plus any other jobs that need doing.

My boy is on DIY.
Currently for the winter our routine is....
Arrive every week morning at 6.30 he is turned out Tue and Thurs then mucked out ready for coming in at 5pm. Mon, Wed and Fri he is left in so is mucked out at 6.30 take top rug off and give hay for the day and arrive at 5pm to muck out again and ride.
Sat arrive at 8 turnout and muck out in at 4 to be ridden
Sun arrive at 10 turnout and muck out and again in at 4 to be ridden

During summer he is out every week day from 6.30am till about 5/6pm
And weekends are the same only as they fit in with work

1 horse in DIY
On yard for 5.30 (6.30 if in work at 8)
Turf out, muck out and do haynets for next 2 days.
Put haynets in for cooking, hang up straw net for late afternoon/evening
Someone else brings in about 3.30
I swing by and hang up cooked haynet. and hang the other one out to drain for next day.
I really need to ride/exercise him, but am struggling this winter to even do the bleeding chores, let alone anything else :(
Sharer rides him anywhere between 1-4 times a week.

She is fed and turned out in the morning for me, then I'll go down after college about half three or later if it's summer and I have more light! Then I do all my chores and fetch her in and ride then if I am going to :)

At the weekends she is still fed and turned out early but I'm often down earlier and will get her in earlier than in the week to go for a long hack or spend some quality cuddling time :D

I have three on DIY work shifts also

Winter
If on early shift at yard by 5am muck all three out change rugs and Haynets ect
Lunchtime back to skip out and give dinner check water
Evening muck out work all three Haynets ect put to bed around 9pm

Summer early shift , arrive same time , feed and then turn all three out , lunchtime bring them in and the. Evening do beds work all three and put them to bed 9pm sometimes later if been competing or lessons

Late shift routine
Get to yard around 6am
Muck out feed and work all three ,
Lunch time skip out and give dinner , they get finished off in evenings for me !! X

3 stabled and at home.
7'ish wake up middle (15 year old son) - where we skip out, hay, water, put on NZ's and feed.
An hour or so later (depending on weather) older son or husband turns-out.
4.30ish middle son does stables, brings in from fields and changes rugs, feeds.
When we had pointers I used to ride everyother morning (in the dark, riding and leading) and they were galloped the days I did not ride (by elder son).
Now we just ride at weekends or during the week if one of us has a day off we ride during the week too. Just about getting them fit enough for half a days hunting.
In the summer we reverse the routine as the horses come in by day and go out by night.....no rugs, yippee!!

Most weekdays - 7.30/45am get to the yard. Chuck feeds in and hay my boy and the other 5 at the yard. Skip out my boy, and the others if I have time. Change rugs if needs be.

Leave for work around 8.15am.

6 - 6.30pm get to the yard in the evening. Tidy up bed, bring in if he's still out, do haynet, water and make feeds for evening and next day. Change rugs if necessary.

Ride!

Hang around and drink tea and chat. Lots of this! Normally home for 8.30/9pm.

Weekends are a bit more flexible. I tend to go up in the early afternoon and do all jobs and ride in the daylight, then put him to bed.

Am very lucky to be at a yard where everyone helps each other out, so he is turned out for me (and often brought in too), given feeds when I'm not there etc.

Blumming hell! Do you live on a zoo? I would love goats though! :D

Gosh - some of your routines could have been cut and pasted straight out of the Manual of Horsemanship...... :)

I on the other hand do this:

7ish - before work. Check they have 4 legs each and are breathing. Poo pick.

At weekends it more like 9ish.

That's it. But then I just have a broodmare and her companion out in a field right now.

Companion's owner sees them late afternoon to check that all is well.

My routine is very loose:

am. Feed, four legs no blood check, hay, water, blankets on/off/straightened. Do anything that is required.

pm. Four legs, no blood check, hay/water check, blankets.

Precise times vary, I do not clockwatch, neither do my horses.
They live out, have forage in their fields all the time and things get done when they get done.

Mine are kept at home.

8am put 4 straight on the walker. If it's dry put the youngsters out, if not, top up their water (they're together in a big pen with a round bale and only get mucked out if they're turned out). Put hosepipe into dustbins and fill as I muck out (3 on pellets, 1 on shavings)

8.45 fill enough nets to see me to tomorrow and put a full net in every stable. Put feeds in the 2 hunters stables then bring everyone off the walker.

Put rugs back on, sweep up a bit.

Depending on what we have planned/weather etc, ride or lunge during the day.

4pm skip out, fresh nets, top waters

I have to confess i've been finishing them off around 5 with their evening feeds but it's dark by then :(

I've got two on DIY on a small farm.
At the yard around 6am, muck out/hay/water whilst they have breakfast, then turnout.
Bring in about 5pm and feed/do rugs etc.

6am feed whole yard 18 of then, change rugs, turn out with his two friends so rug them as well, muck out, prepare hay, water, feeds

7.30 go to work I'm a teacher : )

3-4pm yard manager brings in

6pm groom, exercise finish off for day - then go home and chill : )

If I can't get down in evening yard manager will finish off. I'm lucky to have a very good yard manager who treats all horses like her own : )
