I plan on showing my lad next year (injury depending) and was wondering what type of jacket to get.

Its not going to be major top level showing,.........actually far from it.

We will most likely be showing in hand, best turned out, veteran ridden etc etc nothing too serious oh may have a go at dressage and small jumping comps too.

But what colour? My lad is bright bay if that helps?

Definitely don't get a black jacket, it isn't correct for most showing classes... I'd go for tweed, you'd probably get away with a navy jacket at local things, but IMO tweed is more correct. You should have a navy hat for showing as well.

Tweed is correct for every class apart from show ponies and hacks. A nice green tweed with a navy hat would be correct and you could do everything with this. A black jacket for a lady is never correct for showing. Tweed also has the advantage that slobber doesn't show. There are 100s of lovely tweeds on the market at the moment - prices range from £40 to over £1000 so you are sure to find something to match your budget. With the tweed jacket you should also have brown gloves.

Hope this helps - happy jacket hunting!

Interesting, sorry to hijack the thread but what colour tweed would you recommend FMM? Springy is black (handy as she goes with anything

) and I am hoping to do working hunter and ridden hunter and riding club horse classes.
Thanks
