What job do you do to fund your love of horses?

just finished an equine degree (right waste of time and money!!!) and im about to start a human massage course for a year in august which will lead on to doing equine sports massage, to fund this i work in a pub/ restuarant which isnt the best but im saving for a yard with my boyfriend (im lucky that he can be roped into my plans

) and hopefully i will have the yard and massage horses !!! well thats the plan anyway

For the most part i've played the job of 'Daddy's Little Girl' to fund my horse

whilst also working a few nights a week at a restaurant when i was 15 - 18 to pay for the extra stuff. I'm a student living away from home now, so my horse is out on full loan. However, i'm sharing him again over the summer and am looking for a job to pay half his livery myself. Awaiting a call from a local shop where i did a trial, fingers crossed...

Floristry! I love it but as I am also a full time student it is only a saturday job...however as our housegold income quite is low I am currently paid to go to school and although I save most of it for uni the rest is all horsey ^.^

i'm a commercial property lawyer, which is as boring as it sounds! It funds my pony but doesn't give me much time for my pony. i would love to do something outdoorsy but too late to change now me thinks

The first one is in a children's home and is residential, for a private company who treat us all like crap basically. The kids, as you will probably know from your wife's job, can be extremely violent and abusive. The shift pattern wrecks me. They phone you one day and expect you to go in and do OT the next day, 72 hour shifts sometimes, because they are short staffed. We are basically overworked and underappreciated; I am too calm and placid to deal with the levels of confrontation I have to face, but I had to do the job to find this out.

The second job, on the other hand, is for the local council which is great to work for - we are all well appreciated and communication from our line manager is top notch. The work is casual and I work with disabled children (each one a few hours a week, so it is community based), and I take them away from their parents most of the time and we do fun things. The parents are totally on board with us and are, on the whole, wonderful. I get a lot of satisfaction from giving them a break and giving new opportunities to their children. The children are rarely abusive or violent either.

I don't work, my husband works so I can keep my horse.
Actually, that's not quite correct. I am a full-time Mum to a 3yr old and a 7yr old.

Dog groomer / salon owner. I love being self employed and as much as I'd like to think that I'm pretty self sufficient, I owe a lot to my hubby and credit my being able to afford a horse to his help. He's an engineer (semiconductors).

I love my job, have done all sorts of different things. This is the first thing I've really stuck with.

All I have to do is keep my hubby happy and occasionally help around the farm.

I have an easy life, some might say.

I am a singing and flute teacher, and groom at weekends at the yard Genie's at for a few extra pennies.

I adore my job, every day is different and while there are times when it can be stressful I do get something out of it every day.

during the week in a pharmaceutical company in drug administraton and at the weekend behind the bar of a local golf club... however, now I am down to 1 horse from the 3 I had I am seriously seriously considering dropping the weekend job...... I want my life back and time to actually appreciate my wonderful mare for who she actually is

I'm an Event Security Steward which means I travel all over the place nd i am rarely in the same place twice, bloody long hours but get pretty good braeks inbetween events, I'm off to Goowood Festival of speed tommoro

I do know. Your other jobs sounds lovely, and when its like that at my wifes work she loves it

Iam a proffesional house sitter, although I dont have a horse at the moment (Iam hardly ever at home) always looking after some ones elses house/horses etc! But my sisters horse is kept at our house and she works in Morrisons Petrol station to fund Jack and her hunting.

im a pcpn which is a perinatal community psychiatric nurse.work with pregnant and new mums with post natal illness.not the best paid job but totally rewarding and i love it ,its my dream job.

I do the marketing for a software firm and also do clerking for 5 local schools governing bodies in the evenings! I do enjoy my work very much but it gets very pressurised as there is only one of me trying to do enough work for comfortably 3 people but I am glad to be in work at the moment to be honest with the way things are!

I am a financial controler for a small IT company. My work colleagues are great but the Managing Director makes Scrooge look like father Christmas!

Last yr i worked for a group of newspapers but now work with horses full time, working as a freelance dressage rider/instructor and grooming for a grand prix rider to fund training. Totally worth it

I am a Biologist and a Forensic Archaeologist and cannot find work in any of these areas because of where I live.
I did work at the NH Museum at one time, and was also a Research Assistant in London.
I am also a qualified Beauty Therapist but no money for luxuries in this region at this time.
So I too, am a layabout and a wastrel, that plays with my pony and eats grapes in the evening Ha Ha!

Fortunately my hubby works in the oil services industry and take care of the finances but I have to take care of everything else at home ,which is a full time job, and never ends.

I'm an auditor for a well known financial services company. Got a degree, got the job, had to do professional qualifications whilst having horse, house, relationship etc - but figured it was worth the pain cos it means I can keep my neddie in the manner he has become accustomed!! Having the means to have horses and a nice life motivated me to do the job I do, not the job itself.

me too!!! well my OH has own business so i sometimes help but to be honest the mother and housewife thing is a million times harder at least!

Basically i try to ensure that my child is brought up the best he can be and husband has everything he desires - and the rest of the time i play ponies, ace!

quirky - you do work, YOU ARE A MUM!

I used to be a divisonal marketing manager for 8 sites within my property company and trust me being a mum is harder, i hate how it gets looked down upon!
