In an ideal world I'd be a web/graphic designer so I could have more time (not to mention more money too) to play with my hoss

i'm an archaeologist (an Egyptologist to be specific!) I work in a museum in London at the moment as the Curator of Photographs in a 19th Century photo collection of the Middle East and Egypt. I plan to go back to university to do my PhD some time next year. I ride 3 times a wk after work in the evenings and sat and sunday. Some days when I have meetings etc I have a friend who helps me out and ex my boy.

i work for the ASA (amateur swimming asc), and work 8:30 til 4:30 so it fits in pretty well with my horses! Luckily, my boss is very horsey too so lets me out for emergencies, vets, farrier visits.

Full time student and part-time bar maid!!

Check neddies on way to uni and if I have a late start then I might muck out etc in the am. If I have a v. early start then I'll feed as Im the first one up!

Mum pops up and checks on them mid morning and will also do the odd job. She also does kiris pony at this time as he's on restricted turnout.

I can be home anytime between 12 and 6pm depending on my day so if Im late mum feeds and I muck out the next day (unless stabled in which case I'll do it on my way home) but if I have a half day then I get all the jobs done up the yard and exercise/work/groom neddies etc.

As for pub work; at the moment I do about 12 hours a week (2 - 3 shifts) so these fit in around uni. I work every sunday 10-4 and then will either do 7-12 or 3-7 on a weekday night and I'll also do the odd few hours if we're busy.

No 2 days are ever the same but both my mum, sister and YO are fantastic and with the exception of my 2 late days I get to play with the neddies in the daylight! However I wouldn't recommend a 6.30 start, home by 6pm and then in work from 7-12pm as its knackering!!

I retired about 15 years early after a very stressful job but with a good pension. Now I do a little driving job, 16 hours a week, delivering school dinners to country schools & banking the takings. The pay covers my horse bills.

Wife does him in the morning, mucks out & turns out & we go down each evening with daughter to bring him in, ride, feed etc. Wife has part time job 10.00am-3.00pm weekdays. Mine is around 10.30am - 2.00pm weekdays.... great jobs for looking after the horse, being there for farrier, vet & taking him places. There wouldn't be enough money though without my pension, I'm certainly not rich, but my god I'M HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I work as a private client lawyer in central london. I work long hours hence pony on part livery, but at least we don't start till 9.30 so I ride pony in the morning at 6am (unfortunately the hour long commute means it's still not a leisurely start!).

I am accountant by day, help dad running his online saddlery business at night and try and fit the horses in.

I am getting miserable that its dark at 6.30pm, still had an electrician out and hoping to get some lights on the arena so I can attempt to keep neddies fit.

I'm a restaurant supervisor in a big busy hotel so my boy has a very irregular routine but doesn;t seem to mind. the split shifts are most suited to him as he's worked at seven am, then turned out. i work til five, put him to bed and go back to work for seven. the worst is when i'm in work until 3am, then have to muck out and feed him at five before the breakfast shift at six! (not so bad in summer, very depressing in winter)
all in all, it doesn't work very well but we muddle through.

I'm a carer support worker, I work 3 nights a week, and mornings and evenings the rest, and have one day off a fortnight!!! (lucky me!!) Which means I have most of the day to play with neddies, but it is a bummer in the summer, as i dont have much time in the evenings.

ooooo this is really interesting! wondered what people did for a living!

I'm a sales rep for a communication aid company - I'm a qualified Speech Therapist but got fed up with the NHS.

I work flexible hours but have lots of nights away for exhibitions and meetings.
