Hi, I currently work for the police but Ive had enough and want to do something I really want to do like working with horses/animals, but I cant find anything that pays enough!

What do all you horsey lovers do for your jobs?

:)

I work at a racing yard where I live onsite paying not a lot for my accomodation and just 100 a month each for my 2 horses to live 1min down the road, which is how I afford them :P but planning to leave soon, can't deal with early mornings anymore! :P

ETS: Working with horses isn't all it's cut out to be, as much of a horse lover I am I do get fed up of having to be with them 24/7, and outing a lot of effort into the horses at work and being too shattered to do much with my own

I know where you're coming from! I wanted a horsey job, but also something that would pay enough to allow me to keep my own horse. I have just completed several bridlework courses and am now in the process of setting up my own business making leather work. Next step is saddlery, though that bit is more for me than for business. Am loving it!!

Just become a full time author, whoopee! Playing with horses in the morning, kids in the afternoon and writing books at night, the perfect life. Having said that, my advance isn't huge and OH shoulders the burden of most of our bills (thank God he thinks I am worth the investment!)

Account manager/ Sales for software company - best bit is working from home 3 days a week, worst bit is I sometimes drive hundreds of miles in a day, pays pretty well though

Hi, that sounds interesting, good luck, Id get stuck after writting the first chapter! lol

I work for a Haulage company part time in the evenings. By day I have my own rug washing business and in between play with my horses (and do the normal domestic stuff)

Id love to work for myself, but just cant think of anything I could do which would earn me a min of £1k a month, Id love to buy and sell horses but I dont think that would make me enough either! im stuck!

I'm a drug dealer.

Most days, I sell drugs to the NHS to make sure lots of hearts stay tickety-boo :)

Have worked on busy yards as a youngster - never again!

I have my own hairdressing salon and love it, as today I did clients, went out for a hack, have come back and continue to do clients, around my horsey haha!!!

THAT's why your horses manes & tails are so bootiful!!!

Fortunately I am in the position where I don't have to work to live, good thing too because I am bone idle.

I just stay at home and do all the housewifey stuff and things around the farm (painting barn rooves today:)) have a few mares in to my stallion, sell a few foals, produce a few childrens ponies and have a few Boarders which pay for me to have quite a lot of useless hayburners.

I am an IT Configuration and Infrastructure Architect.

I piddle about on a computer all day trying to make sense of servers and stuff. Can be quite rewarding. Pays well and I work with some lovely people.

learning support worker working with people on the autistic spectrum to. mainly support animal and equine college students at national and foundation diploma level. so it keeps me in the horsey but not out in the wet and sh*t. i dont start work again till september and have been working for incacola on here which i love but i struggle to work with horses all day and still have the enthusiasm (sp) to do mine at the end of the day! youd be better off staying as a po po (police) and just doing a differen area, i want to be a traffic cop!!

Any chance of a swap! lol

I work for a major satellite tv provider - can you guess which one?? :D

I work in the Exective Complaints/VIP department and deal with all the complaints that come into our company via our executives and also with the accounts on VIP's for example famous people, politiciains, and so on and so forth. Its interesting and I do like my job however I am enrolling at Uni to do a Photography degree this year so will be going down the part time to concentrate on my degree :)

im a buyer for a construction company, so spend my day spending other peoples money. Its a good laugh and very much a male environment which always provideds entertainment lol I did work with horses after i finished college and although i learned loads and loved it, the money was **** and it was a thankless job so it eventually wore a bit thin and i had to come back to reality.

could you not become a mounted officer? that way you get to keep the cash and play with the ponies lol

Kharber21 you sound just like me. I'm on mat leave from Police at the mo and haven't enjoyed my job for a couple of years so I'm trying to find something else. Ideally, I'd want to work with animals but still need the same sort of income you wanted. I'd love to work for myself in some capacity even if it wasn;t with animals and then I could fit worj in around horses and dogs (and baby of course!). Let me know if you do try something else I'd love to hear how it goes.

I'm a production planner for a company that makes food flavourings (crisp flavours, soup and sauces flavours etc). It pays ok, the people are great and its only 9 to 5, so time enough for horses during the summer, and my parents help out in the winter.

I work for a computer forensics company, the work is very varied and although we have to deal with lots of seriously horrible stuff there are lots of interesting cases and the odd strange one ... great work enviroment and good sense of humour in the office ... mainly with the investigators who are always trying to take their mind off what they have to see.

I'm a call manager in an insurance call centre. I used to be an underwriter but I have now escaped that and don't have to speak to people on the phone any more - thank god!! I hate it

I also work part time as a consultant for Jamie Oliver cookware - doing party plan, going round people houses, having wee parties and selling them nice things for their hooses. I like it!

Not what I planned to do, trained as a park ranger but couldn't get permanent work and the mortgage made me give in lol!!

wow, such alot of varied jobs!
miss_buffay your job sounds facinating. Do you mind me asking how you got into it and the qualifications that are necessary? Pm if you would rather!

I'm a self employed Nail Technician and I have the best job in the world! I do Nail Enhancements, Manicures, Pedicures, Coloured Gel and am mobile so have variety as well as setting my own hours.

I used to work in Marketing for a Financial Services company and I can honestly say leaving to set up my nail business was the best thing I have done.......

Well I'm living away at uni for 7 - 8 months of the year, dossing about learning to be a bioveterinary scientist...hopefully leading onto a veterinarian :D
Now its summer, I work some hours at the Coop, some hours in a friends tack shop and I work when needed, at a canine hydrotherapy centre with the majority of dogs being overweight or recovering from injury. The canine hydro is a fantastic job, especially when you see the results! :)

International arms dealer. Before that I was a test pilot for jet fighters. Currently studying to be a brain surgeon, as I fancy a change of career.

No, really I'm an Office/Admin Manager and part time Human and Equine Bowen Therapist.

I'm a bean counter!

Starting a new job soon looking after Cash and Treasury for an investment firm.

LOL @ Faro I almost took you seriously!
