What jodphur boots to people recommend??

Yep I have the zip version, they have lasted a year so far, but were worn all day every day for the first 5mnths of their lives, and not get used everyday and have never been looked after!

The sole will wear out before the boot does.

I have the new type zip at the back laces at the front Ariats I bought just before Christmas. I have been cherishing them, breaking them in doing non horsey stuff, so they have had hardly any wear and tear.

I started to wear them at the yard about a month ago. I noticed today that the front of the boot on both sides is becoming unglued from the sole on both boots

I can't take them back as I have had them a while although I have hardly worn them.

They are super comfy but clearly as hard wearing as a chocolate teapot.

Polish, polish and more polish - my ariats have lasted 3 years and counting with year & a half of busy yard work

Wonder if there is a difference between the £60 ones and the £150 bar the fit/gel insoles etc

Another vote for Ariats! I have 2 pairs of the Heritage Zip ones (cost £75), my old ones for at the yard which have now got holes in them after 2 years of being worn every day at the yard including mucking out and down the field as well as riding and competing and not being looked after, and my new ones for shows which I'm going to look after! Definitely worth the money IMO.

Three of us on the yard had the ifferent "budget" ariats. The two cheaper ones (the £75 and the £100 ones) both got holes in the leather, the most expensive ones went around the zip. All after similar amounts of time with similar usage. From what have gathered, quite typical for Ariat boots, but maybe they do need serious maintanance!

possibly a bit late posting this, but I just got the Ariat Crowne Pro black leather gaiters and they look exactly like boots, even close up! I doubted that gaiters would look as good as boots, but I'm converted now!

Also I would choose black over brown as you can use black in more situations than brown.

and while we're on the subject!

I think any boots will wear out faster, if they're not cleaned, remember that horse urine (in straw, shavings etc.) is acid, and this will eat away at the leather & stitching in your boots, if they're not cleaned... so moral of the story is, clean them boots!

ordinary Kiwi boot polish is fab for stopping boots rotting, in my opinion. I've got an old pair that's lasted more years than I care to remember, and I just use Kiwi black polish on them!
