What kind of horsey/pony do you own?..

I own an 18 yr old Arab mare. I've owned her for 10 years (since I was 11) and she's as safe as houses, ridden by me, my younger sister and our very novice mum. She's fab :D

14.3H coloured cob gelding, lovely chap with nice personality most of the time, doesnt care for strangers, especially men.lol Quiet on lead rein. Can be a monkey to catch, and then will only come if it suits him.lol lol

Just wondering really, Is your horsey/pony, Naughty or well-behaved, Mare, Gelding or Stallion, What colour? How big? Any quirks? Random question I know but?! I'll get it started:
Mostly Well-behaved, Mare, Flea-bitten grey, 13.3 hh, Not many quirks but sometimes she gets slight seperation anxiety at shows ;) Your turn! :p

Naughty is the understatement of the year! He is horrid by name and horrid by nature :p Gelding (Although they forgot to tell him that after they oparated! He's 9 but wasn't cut till he was 7.) He's bay Roan, He's 12.2hh and where do I start with his querks. He's nappy, rears, bucks, leaps and spins to get his own way. He'll bite and kick you given half the chance. But he is getting better all the time and I love him so so much :D

I also have a well behaved (most of the time ;) ) Gelding, Chestnut, 14.1hh, Likes to nidge you for attention when he wants a cuddle (which is most of the time) also likes to help poo pick by carrying the scoopy thing :p :D

They are both forest bred foresters.

Have got a 18yr old Welsh x new forest. Spooky thing akways has been but would equally jump the earth if i asked her. Had her 9years.

Also a Welsh x hackney. 9yo. Where do I start. Defiant is the word but when I ask properly she is amazing. Only lightly ridden atm but recently our bond is fantastic and she is turning into the most amazing little mare. Thought I had learnt patience as a midwife but this mare made sure I thoroughly understood it!

14.2 Knabstrupper pony (light cob type) 10y/o impeccable manners, bit marish with others brave as a lion under saddle, wimp in field. Histerical seperation anxiety at shows so we take a friend or go somewhere she will know horses. Just wants to jump jump jump. Owned for 8.5 yrs

15.1 Knabstrupper x arab 4y/o learning manners, very loving but a little volatile at times. Owned for 4 yrs, used to try to kill me with feet (front and back) and teeth

15hh ID x TB 31 y/o used to have impeccable manners, more spoilt as she gets older so naughtier but very gentle kind and loving. Owned 16 years. Still in occassional light work. It's a rule we have never to miss an opportunity to titbit or kiss Lottie as she was given a week to live in may last year so each kiss/treat is an 'extra' one.

16hh ISH on loan from my sister. Sharer rides mainly. Impeccable manners, very ladylike, likes cuddles in the stable in private, gets a bit excited in big open spaces and has to be gently reminded to use her manners. Had on loan for 3 weeks but known/been involved with her for 4 years.

Not having anymore ever, have a horse capable of every discipline and when Lottie goes, there will never be one to touch her for class and personality so will stick with what we have.

A 14.2 (possibly bigger) 6 year old dun Connie. He has a sense of humor and attitude when he fancies it. If he likes you he is well behaved but if not watch your toes! I love him to bits even if he is a spooky git but he loves jumping at the moment but he finds it all a bit scarey occasionally, his flat work has come on loads recently but is not his favourite past time. :D

Mines a 14.2hh arab mare, rising 18 (she thinks shes 4...) shes behaved for me most the time, othe people she takes the P out of them. She won't jump any more, she just rears, spins, leaps when you attempt too.. even though you get some fabby dressage moves.. when not wanted. This is all because of bad farriery in her previous home which ment very unbalanced feet equalling rotated pedals. Shes amazing on the roads.. apart from the cantering sideways. Shes broncs, bucks, rears and leaps when shes fresh, stubborn or just being rude. She scrapes her teeth along the top of her stable door... CRINGE. Shes affectionate and shouts to me everytime I walk on the yard... and when I walk on the yard about 50 times a day (inbetween jobs, when im working etc) it can get annoying but i do love her :)
She is just amazing :)

16.2hh, 7y/o, chestnut, ISH, gelding... he's "very well bred" (sort of) and when I first met him (I bought him from the YO) he was terribly aloof in a "don't touch me, peasant" manner

Don.jpg

but he's turned out to be a lovey kissy cuddly cheeky 'pony'. I swear he thinks he's about 12.2hh!

Snog!

Imma eat this thing, 'k?

He nips, but not in a nasty way, just to get a hold of my jacket or whatever top I'm wearing, which he then holds onto with a "I'm not touching you" look on his face... one time when I ducked under his neck I found myself stuck and couldn't figured out why I couldn't move, I managed to twist myself around enough to see he had the back of my t-shirt in his mouth with a big eyed innocent "it wasn't meeee!!!" look on his face. He also likes to bite my bum when I'm grooming him, if he succeeds I give him a Hard Stare, and he looks at me as if to say "what? I didn't do anything!"

He's a bit "funny" about picking his feet up, he'll pick his back feet up no bother, but not his front feet, sometimes I can get him to lift his off fore, but not his near fore... he prefers to try to bite my bum.

He discovered when he was mutual grooming one day that my jods and half chaps twang if he pulls on them, so he spends all his time trying to catch a hold of either of them and twanging them... it's worse than a teenage boy who's discovered girls wear bras!!! He managed to catch the waistband of my jods one day (when I was trying to get him to lift his foot), and discovered an even better "twanger", he's been trying to catch a hold of that ever since!

When I bring a new or different rug into the stable I have to left him sniff it all over, nowadays I just put them on the floor and let him have at it! Thankfully he's not destructive, he just has a right good snuffle, and occasionally will pick the rug up in his teeth and shake it.

He loves having his face brushed, and will lower his head and stand still while I brush away.

His stable is in a barn style structure, both ends open, but you enter/exit from the 'north' end, so the horses and ponies always look in the direction when they look over their doors... he was moved to the end stable at the South end a few months ago, and clearly didn't realise there was a door at "his" end, until some ponies were put out in the field just out side the 'South' door. He was so transfixed he forgot he had a mouthful of hay and stood staring at them

I love him to bits!!

14.2hh bay mare, 10 years old, she has brill manners on the ground and I love riding her, but she has separation anxiety sometimes, shes perfect alone in the school tho but anything else she gets a bit stressy!

14.2hh(still growing) chestnut mare, 3 and a half years old, shes my other ones foal, she can be such a cowbag when she wants to be! But she is lovely alot of the time! She recognises my voice, and will whinny when she hears me or sees me and she loves being groomed and has fantastic movement! Also part arab!

sorrryyy, i rambled on a lil bit :P

16.1hh KWPN registered Dutch Warmblood mare who was imported from Holland nearly 4 years ago. I have owned her coming up to 6 months. Her registered name is Udaldine, stable name, Buffy :)
She is the sweetest most even tempered mare I have ever come across, she is definately my horse of a lifetime!!
Shes not mareish, turns out with anything, impeccible stable manners. Ridden manners we are still working on but getting there! She is sharp but sensible, no bucking, rearing, spinning, hopping around, napping. She more likely to gallop off at speed but is easy enough to stop!
I do love my pony :D

A 15.2hh black registered British Warmblood gelding rising 4.
A real sensitive sole. Thinks everything might hurt him. And is a total wimp and drama queen!
But also the pack leader of my 3 - gives a good telling off if he's not the one getting all the attention or food!

A 13hh black NF x filly rising 2. The funniest little character ever. Not phased by anything. So bold and full of herself, yet sweet and gentle. Cheeky and cute with an afro forelock! But also stubborn when she doesn't fancy doing what is asked of her.

A 13hh grey Connie gelding rising 3. Another laid back, unphased boy! Although bikes can be pretty scary sometimes. Well behaved and does what's asked of him even if it's his first try at things! I'm waiting for him to try it on, he's too good to be true! Even takes himself out to the field! Oh and he has tiny tiny cute ears!!

16.2 grey gelding, 9 years old, PBA
A superstar of a horse now but a bugger when he was younger! I've owned him since he was a yearling and backed him myself.
He's on loan now to someone that's quite novicey and he really looks after her :)
