Like the title says what kind of MPG do you get in your horsebox? I have just got a new horsebox :) but I don't really cover a lot of miles to work out my MPG so what kind of box do you have and what kind of MPG's do you get?

We have a small two horse box - a renault master high top thing. Its great and does an average of 28 mpg

Both the above figures are pretty accurate I think. I know my Ford Cargo does 15.5 mpg. A 17 tonner would be in the region of 10/12 mpg.

15mpg 7.5T lorry. Fairly average I think

Not possible, simply not possible. I have been convincing myself I have a leak in my diesel tank. Would be an easy 40+ mpg without that damn leak! :) :) ***LA LA LA LA, TIDDLEY POM....***

I've measured mine carefully. It's a MAN '02 7.5 tonne with less than 30,000 genuine miles on the clock (I have the journey log from a Health Authority that owned it) I get 20 -22 mpg, which I was very surprised as so high. It's light, though, with an aluminium body that I chose specifically and a lightweight living area and I normally only carry one 650kg horse and 170kg of people.

Yes, the old Bedford TK,s with the 330 engine also used to turn in at about 20 MPG. I have heard that MAN 7.5 tonners were pretty good but havent any direct experience.

Havent worked it out but my cargo 0811 (g reg) did Reading to Ashford in Kent on £50 (Feb 2011) and Reading to Malplas in Cheshire on £85 in March- really hoping her Daf 45-130 (v reg)replacement does as well.. the cargo used less than my 4x4 towing did..

My Daf 150 Auto does 14-15mpg, which i'd rather not think about.

However I love my horsebox and have clocked up lots of overnight stays already this year!

Not sure on specific numbers but MAN 8.153 much better than old Bedford 330 engine - runs on a wet rag! We reckon about 25MPG on the MAN

Thanks for all of your reply's guys! Really helpful just trying to figure if its financially viable to go to various shows, lessons and clinics or if it is better to try and keep closer to home.

I was almost scared to come into this thead!! Id deffo be too scared to work it out!! Am more than happy to live in complete denial and just go on merry adventures!!
