What kind of worms are these???

Do you think they could be Ascaris. My horse had them when I bought him, they were about 30mlong, round as like a pencil.

They are Parascaris equorum or as others have written Ascarids or Large Roundworms. Common in young horses up to about the age of one. When did you last worm and with what?

Thanks.

I have been worming the foals 6wkly since birth with Strongid P on my vets recommendation. My mares were last wormed with an Ivermectin wormer in may and june after their foals were born. The vet told me to leave them after that til the start of nov. This time I wormed them all with Eqvalan Duo.

They are round worm - many youngsters get them they need to be dealt with fast though as they can block the gut just by shear quantity. You may also notice a cough or snotty nose too - worm them four weekly for a couple of months.
