Further to my previous thread, I have made some progress on ativities to do with Kip (my 8 month old border terrier). I have found a ringcraft group local to us and they are starting a course for puppies from this evening. Unfortunately we can't make today, but Tuesday evenings generally work for us, so we are signing up.

I do need some advice though. I need to get him a suitable lead as he currently wears a harness. I need to get "a slip chain, or a half choke". Please, wise people of AAD, let me know which is better, and any links to specific examples would be great, as I currently feel as though I am entering a completely new world! :D

I did ask this question yesterday in the previous thread, but haven't had any responses, so thought I might have more luck with a new specific thread about leads. :)

I’d start on a half choke as he’s only a pup . A bit like horse stuff you can spend silly money on dog “tack” but I would just get a cheap one until you decide if showing is for you. Petcetera is a good site .

Thank you, that's really helpful. At the moment I am aiming to do the ringcraft classes as part of his all round training, but you never know, I might just get the bug! :)

I got Fen a cheap nylon show lead from a local pet shop (they do showing/grooming kit etc) for £4 which he has now outgrown but it has done to start with, I'll be replacing with the larger size ahead of his first show then a nice show lead once we know he enjoys it.
