Mine are the way my mare and gelding, see me coming with their dinner and they start licking their lips, like they are really excited to be fed!

The way my mini Shetland doesn't like to be caught but he will always come over and neigh when he sees me!

My mares little ears twitching to the forward position when she hears my voice!

My gelding for always putting his nose through the head collar, making him so easy to catch and for having a hard for months and taking it all in his stride!

what are your little things??

The way he shakes his head and squeals with excitement before a pre-canter buck! The way he tilts his head when he knows I'm about to take his bridle off, because he just can't wait to have his treat afterwards. The way he stands stock still and four square immediately when he hears me say "aaaaand", because he knows what follows is "woah" and another treat! The way he stands still for me to do his rugs, but trots off if he sees my mum coming with a change of rug.
There are so many things - he makes me laugh every day :D

I love the fact that Maya the mini thinks she is a dog and walks into the kitchen! I also love to see my smallest mini at 32 inches grooming my welsh cob, he grooms her withers and she grooms his knees and then my very miserable tbxwelsh run at the minis with ears back and they just stand their ground and look at her, she turns away first! Minis are so brave.

That he shouts as loud as he can when he sees/hears my car/footstep . . . that he flinches when I take his lycra vest off expecting a shock but doesn't do anything nasty . . . that he has been, despite being a quirky/fussy so-and-so about who sits on him, very patient while we find the "right" jockey for him. He's a proper dude . . . very sweet, rather insecure, very needy, but gives so much. I love the bones of him.

I love Moses' bright, blue, intelligent eyes and the way you can see that he follows everything you do.

I love Ffins gentle manners and his little spark of cheek which surfaces from time to time!!

I love the white triangle on my pony's soft nose, and how sweet and gentle and smart he is. And the Ballerina Mare's obsession with food, and her cheerful expression!

I love my lad for not calling across the field for anyone but me, the way I can almost count down in seconds in my head when he is about to have an excited buck/squeal, the way he falls asleep whilst being groomed with his bottom lip trembling, when he picks each door up for me when picking out feet, and bizarrely his reliability on always having a poo within five strides of leaving the yard gate-this always makes me smile!!

I love the look on his face when I brush his forelock and forehead, and the way he lowers his head for you to take off the bridle. Oh, and yesterday he decided to walk up to the gate, 10 yards gap from me, when I went to catch him, so we got to the gate and then I put his headcollar on no problem; this, after the monkey has been difficult for the past fortnight due to falling in love with the only mare in the field!

His whinny when my cars pulls up by the barn,

The way he snuggles into my shoulder,

The way he always waits for me to untie the gate in the field before he mugs me of treats,

The way he rolls in the muddiest part of the field when he's just been groomed,

The way he is already at the gate when I go fetch him (he waits by the fence for me to turn up, and slowly munches hia way over),

His gorgeous little face. To be honest, I love absolutely everything about him, even though he doesn't half piss me off sometimes! He has a super special place in my heart.

Today I wasted 30 minutes watching the horse in my avatar eat thistles. Each one has to be pawed into submission then carefully picked up, thistles pointing down. Concentration when chewing was vital. Love that.

I love the fact that he tries so very, very hard to be brave, even though he's a total wimp. No matter how scared he is, he rarely does anything more than jump in place, or take a couple of (admittedly, very quick!) strides away from whatever's scaring him.

I love that he 'hugs' me with his neck and head when I've groomed JUST the right spot, and he'll sometimes nudge me into position to give him a big hug around his neck.

I love that he lowers his head and opens his mouth for his bridle, and then tries to help me get the headpiece over his ears.

I love that, when he's concentrating and working hard, his ears flop out to the sides and wobble around.

I spent fifteen minutes (in the freezing cold!) watching him in his field today, before deciding I didn't have the heart to bring him in and work him when he was enjoying himself so much. There were fallen logs to investigate, and mud to splash in, and friends to play with.

How he will point to his itchy bits with his muzzle and then just look at me until I begin to scratch.....

...his "Elvis" snickers....."uh huh huh"....

....the deliberate tipping of the wheelbarrow if he eats his grass block quicker than I muck out - he knows he'll get a second block just to keep him from being a monkey!...

...the way he stands, for ages, with his eyes half closed, smacking his lips and savouring the taste of a treat like a banana or a Greggs apple Danish!...

...cantering on the spot on a loose rein because he's so excited he doesn't know quite what to do with himself....

....the pre-canter head toss and Catherine-wheel-style "wheeeeee" that follows....

...I could go on.....and on :D

M - the way he neighs a welcome to me every time I go to get him in from the field, the way his lips wobble if I use a moulting comb on him, how much he loves seeking out zips and toggles, his bizarre fixation with my schooling whip (he will follow it around constantly while I'm on the ground).

C - his outlook on life - he always has his ears forward, always wants to be touched or petted and is always happy to see everyone. Also how brave he is - he's only 4 and in the past month has had his first set of shoes on, done his first few jumps and his first hacks alone (past scary building sites etc) and he's been good as gold.

I love the way if I say her name she will leave her hay and look for me.

I love the way she gets her lick all up her white blaze ( though I like grooming it off less).

I love the way she does this really quiet whinny when she wants food, it sounds like a sheep baaing :')

I love her grumpy faces and that if I go on holiday she won't talk to me when I get back.

Love the grumpy little ginger cowbag
