Was just wondering what made you all buy/loan your horses
grin.gif

I bought D because I had him on loan for 9 months, he's a complete thug, pretty much totally broken and totally unsuitable but wouldn't swap him for anything

As for Monty, he just felt right and is totally dippy

Was offered ponio for bday...

had choice of 3 from closing down RS

Sherry- 27 at the time....was too old IMO
Bracken- Pulled like a tank, hands red raw lol
Sea-b - had always loved her and was just perfect for me

guess which one i picked

Ajay, because of his breeding and unbeleivable temperament
Teddy, because of his show record, and Ok temperament
Pip andGinga, because they worked well as a pair and ideal height, and friendly dispostition.

God knows, gave mum a black eye and bit me, just my cousin who knew him said he was actually a really nice chap

Well, i was desperate for a horse lmao i had ones on loan in the past but i out grew them, i went to try guinness out and the people who owned her would not let me go and had hold of her check peice 24/7 she seemed to have good stable manners and needed a lil bit of work, So i bought her even though i knew there was a catch...? i found out what it was she had not been rode for 2 yrs
laugh.gif
FUN FUN FUN !!!! she turn out to be perfect for me and we have a great friendship !!! i love my neddy !!! even though we had our tears an arguments also the falls, the kicks, the bites lmao ect...

I had Polly on loan and when I used to call her name in the field she would turn round, see it was me and stomp off in the opposite direction with her ears flat back.

How could I resist buying her???

(incidentally, after nearly 2 years together, I do occasionally get a 'happy face' when I go to catch in now

maisie - was bought to be broken and sold on project but had real issues, she has stayed ever since i couldn't pass her on, still can't moan for £250, she can do a bit of everything!

lily bought at 6months old because i wanted a foal by that particular stallion

moses - ever since i was a child i'd wanted a welsh cob, this chap has spent his youth chilling in the field, now he's with me he takes to things happily and seems to enjoy his work, the main reason i bought him was his fantastic temprement.

Badger - because he seemed to have lots of potential and was cheep!!! I wasn't really looking at the time.
smile.gif

Caffrey - because he had such a brill temperament and was just perfect for mummy.

Partly because he was an amazingly forward going and sharp ride (I was sick of lazy horses!), partly becuase I was being offered him very cheaply and for trial as long as I liked and partly because I became immediatly attached to him (he has a lovely nature) and I was worried what might happen to him if I didn't get him (because I'm like that!) and partly because I felt sorry for him (he was a scrawny little chap who everyone was scared to ride due to him being so sharp). And also I knew the owner. So lots of reasons really.

We had been browsing about, but were planning on buying next year.
Found a lovely mare who we had vetted, but she failed on an xray. After that we couldn't just stop looking and the next horse we looked at was Blu and we got her because she was just what I wanted jumping wise, Mum was perfectly happy on her and I wanted something who's flatwork I could improve
smile.gif

just knew he was for me....cant quite say how i knew he just seemed to beam and that was it. i'll always remember his look from the stable, he just didnt want to do anything and he seemed to be pretty difficult but I loved it...over the years had been offered many horses from the vets and people at yards which was very tempting but just didnt seem to the right feel...
His owner was a novice and he had, had a bad fall and lost his nerves and my horse had been spooked as well so they hadnt ridden him for ages...
I was meant to loan him but my hubby in the end bought him as a surprise wedding present...we had to go and have a few lessons with him just to satisfy the owner that we were right together...people kept saying he was lazy and non respondant but he responded well to my leg and again I just knew he was for me...he has also stopped putting his ears back which he seemed to do the entire time when I first saw him...he is very gentle although at times can play up but I love it...
I guess as cheesy as it sounds...I just knew I was waiting for him and he was waiting for me

Gypsy- she was brought for me a birthday presant. Complete nutter for adults but steady as a rock for me (aged 10), though she would do a perfect Levade at the begining of gymkana games!

Amber- she was a big soppy girl when I first viewed her (fell in love with photo on ad). Hasn't quite been the horse I was hoping for though.

Jethro- wanted a black shetland mare from the auction and ended up with grey roan colt!!! His sisters were hugely expensive and all I could see was his bum. Then the moment I saw his face I knew I'd be taking him home.

I knew he was for me just from a photo! I fell in love with his beautiful Welshie looks and when I rode him he made me laugh!

Mine turned up neglected by owner in our fied when I was part loaning a friends horse. He was very underweight had not been touched/ridden for I dont know how long but would folllow me round the field wanting strokes and would continue to walk backwards towards me until I scratched his bum.
Completely fell in love with his character. then the first time i rode him confirmed how much i wanted him... so got myself a very good bargin
grin.gif

I had been riding her for about a year. All that time she was up for sale but wasnt really advertised so stayed with me. Took her to local dressage and won her first ever dressage test, came 2nd and 4th in the other 2. I begged mum to lend me the money but she wouldnt.

A couple of months later she was sold subject to vetting but then failed the vetting. Mum then lent me the money and I put in a very low offer. Owner eventually said yes and she was mine.
4 years on and shes still with me.

His exceptional beauty, type, conformation, movement, presence, sweet playful nature - plus fab show record and top-class pedigree... And I just fell in love at first sight!

He was my ultimate dream-horse. Only problem: he wasn't for sale. But I begged and pleaded shamlessly until they finally agreed to let me buy him.

Horse no 1 - bought from looking at her in a field with her foal at foot - because she had a kind face. She's great.
Horse no 2 - bought because I felt sorry for her...helped foster her as an orphan foal. She's sweet, but time will tell.
Horse no 3 - I bred her so can't get a refund! She's highly entertaining.
All bad reasons for ending up with them, but I like most horses

Probably the bit where she was absolutely perfect!!
grin.gif

I had spent 15 months searching, and many years dreaming of a horse like Be
laugh.gif
I saw her ad, and thought she was too much... spent another week and a half going back to the ad on a regular basis *wishing* so badly.... and then decided it was worth a shot seeing her and perhaps trying to haggle her into my budget - now she's mine
laugh.gif
I adore her

I bought mine because (like Puppy's reply) he was absolutely perfect, a lovely well-bred horse, with a BE record, and he just seemed like the right type for me. I went with a friend to see him (about a 500 mile round trip) and I knew immediately when I saw him that he was 'it'. And he hasn't put a foot wrong since I've owned him (2 1/2 years).

Because he was cheap and my dad refused not to buy him!

I had ridden him twice and he was a very cheeky chap, bolshy in the stable at feed time, but he had a cute face all the time he was quite well behaved. My dad came to look at him (although I knew he wasn't planning on giving in and buying him) Ed started off fine going quite nicley until my dad turned up at the gate, well I could not stop on the bloody thing he kept throwing me off and jumped the three trotting poles in one go then had a rodeo around the arena! Because of that my dad had to buy him for me because he thought I needed a 'bit of a challange'.

Because he was pink in the photo! Only joking but the photo sold him to me as stupidly I never met him in the flesh until I picked him up!

As a result I ended up with a handsome thug and got a bit more than I bargained for, that will teach me........although I wouldn't swap him for all the tea in China.

Because Tara was just what i was looking for
laugh.gif
She just ticked every box (Except for being a mare, we would have rather had a gelding!), she was kind and sweet in the stable, nice flatwork and could jump with money BSJA but still in british novice and had evented and xc schooled and hunted
laugh.gif
And i just got on with her as soon as i sat on her back
laugh.gif

Harry...well, i bought him cos he was cheap and did the job. He has been a "fun" pony, i love him to bits, but some days i wish i hadnt bought him
blush.gif

because she would have been PTS for not being in foal!
frown.gif
as it was she had a lovely foal 6 months later!
grin.gif
silly person never bothered to get her tested even though they said she had been and was not in foal!
smirk.gif
took great delight in telling person about the foal and showing piccies off!

flynn- mum and gran got him and decided he was 'rite' for me. even tho he was 4 years old and had been backed for 4 weeks, and had been wild (hes connemara) before that, and i was 11, he turned out to be an actual STAR. taught me how to stick on!

solo- fell in love with him. he came from my uncle whose a dealer and we think he was a racing 'reject'. had him 4 years now, and although hes a complete angel on the ground and a swine to ride, he is fantastic. not been able to event (what i originally wanted to do) due to a severe lack of brakes, i enjoy him. hes a complete wuss.

one mans trash is another mans treasure!

Lady who I have on permanent loan from a rescue sanctury - because I felt sorry for for and nobody else wanted her, she'd been returned several times due to her nervousness and being very fizzy to ride.

Fudge - because he's so cute and because he sounded very genuine, which he is.

I bought my mare at the sales when she was a 3 year old - I was standing in front of her pen and she started to nuzzle round my hair, who could resist! I paid £600 for her and still have her now, 12 years later - she's been great.

I bought my gelding cos I felt a bit sorry for him. He's got a big, common head, which was the first thing I saw (I said to my friend "I hope that's not it"!). He was also a bit on the poor side when I got him. He seemed a sweetie, though and I just liked him as a person. It's been interesting though...
