When you went to select your pup from the litter, what made you go for that particular one?

When we went to see mini schnauzers there were only 2 bitches left. The rest of my family all snuggled around one and kept wanting it, whereas I picked up the one that was snoring it's furry little head off. She licked me on the nose, cuddled into my arm and promptly fell asleep again. As I was the actually buying the pup, I got to take her.

And so The Beast was born

The breeder painted blue sparkly nail polish on her back foot so we knew it was the right one when going back to pick her up, but I knew her as soon as I went back to the house

Awwwww! I want another puppy! We choose Molly, the black lab I had with my ex because she was the liveliest one of the bunch. We wanted one to go running with my ex & be really active. Not sure why she turned into such a chilled, sleepy girl as she grew up!

Muppet, my dalamtian chose me. I got him as a rehome. His previous owners couldn't cope with him and they new that Mup & I always made a beeline for each other when I saw him on walks so they offered him to me. He is possibly the nicest pooch I've ever met... I'm not biased or anything, much!

When we got Isaac our male Rotti, we got him as he was the biggest of the bunch!!

And Georgia our female Rotti, she was the smallest and quite sat at the back!! However she is not so quite now!

Ki chose us really. We wanted a dog and there were two to choose from, he was the bounciest, biggest most in your face one there

The others kind of said hello and had a little play, but Ki just kept coming back for cuddles and kisses

Two to choose from, one of them was friendlier so we took her.
First dog-she licked dad's beard!
Second-she was the darkest colour in the litter and they were all pretty friendly!
Third-He was fat and fluffy (mongrel litter-all very different!)

We chose Roly as he was one of the two short haired black and tans in the litter. He looked the best one proportions wise and was very friendly and bright.

The breeder told us the dog would choose us! He did....The little so and so came up to my Hubby every single time we visited out of 13 dogs!!!! He would jump up and make a b-line for hubbs and so it was! That was his puppy and couldn't have wished for a better one!

We chose the pup that was'nt chewing our jeans/coat/bag/fingers etc!!

After we chose our boy he went and did a big poo in the hall!

Bless they were all gorgeous though! x

We went to choose ours when he was 3 weeks...or rather he chose us. His brothers and sisters just slept - he came tottering over and had a good look, seemed to have that extra something about him. Only then did the breeder say he was the only one they'd named as he seemed very quick to learn and just stood out somehow. 3 months on and he is such a lovely little pup, we can't leave the house without people stopping to fuss over him. Even my mum (who was dead set against me getting him) loves him and didn't want us to leave after xmas...she's already volunteered to have him when we go away in the summer. Can't believe I never had a dog before!

Skye was a litter of 11 but she ran straight over to me and was quite mad and I thought 'I like her!', she just had such a fun personality, once I'd signed the buyers contract the breeder then told me she was the naughtiest puppy in the litter

I don't regret it, she's the best bitch I could ask for.

Brier - well who couldn't resist this puppy?

Nero - I didn't have the choice.

Kaiser - I chose him for his markings, conformation and temperament - which is exceptional.

Shala for her markings and confo and Sheya for her temperament and confo, she also is a spitting image of her mother at that age.

When I came out of hospital last year, I had to stay with my parents for a few weeks cos I couldn't do anything for myself. My mum had a litter of puppies and on the first night I was there, they were running about over the floor. I was admiring a lovely boy pup (which is what I wanted). I can't even remember what it was that made me struggle down to the floor to pick up Taggie but the second I lifted her up I just had this amazing feeling of love come over me.

My mum took one look at my face and went
'oh god, it would have to be a bitch puppy wouldn't it!?' LOL. I spent the next three weeks lying on the sofa with the pup, poor thing hardly saw her brothers and sisters
wink.gif
then she came home with me and she is the most loving dog I've ever known.

With my first dog, I went to see the litter at my mums, took one look in the basket at 3 weeks and went
"that one". There was no hesitation, I just knew. But then, my mum said that that was the one SHE wanted to keep

so I chose a different one and spent the next week firmly NOT looking, NOT touching this amazing blue puppy I was so in love with. At the end of the week my mum came up to me and said that she could see how much the blue puppy meant to me (even though I'd not said a word) and she'd thought about it and I could have her after all. That was the best thing she ever did I think!

I am a total romantic with dogs, I think you just know when they are right. Logic has no part in it

I'd always wanted a Chow Chow, and the breeder was within 20miles of me. There were only two pups in the litter, both black, one boy, one girl. The boy was slightly taller, the girl was much chunkier. The boy was more interested in exploring, and sunk his teeth in at every opportunity, while the girl was quieter and warier. I picked her up, she dozed off in my arms (while her brother was trying to chew my knee off), and she came home with me half an hour later.

The breeder took us and the pups into their garden - they all went nuts apart from the smallest one which came over and sat on my feet and stayed there for abt 10 mins while we chatted then follwed me everywhere. When we went back inside and sat down he went under my legs and fell asleep. He came home with us that night

Stella was the only pup left. She was going to be a show dog but her eyes were deemed too amber in colour.

When the breeder took Stella out of her crate, Stella jumped on my knee, nipped my nose and fell asleep on me in a ball. How can you say no to that?

OH's dog really, but he was last remaining pup in litter, did the andrex puppy thing with paper, got his intestines blocked up and went into vets. Was very sweet and stoical through vet treatment, including drips and he didn't go home - OH bought him from breeder.

He's probably the calmest happiest dog I know, and is very gentle.

Each puppy has already been chosen for me before I have arrived; the colour, the temperament, the sex already having been discussed prior to me going to see each litter.

The only puppy we have really "chosen" was little Snowdrop from our own litter by Lily. My daughter was told she could keep one but it would have to be a female. There were only 2 females so I guess it was pretty easy for her to choose.

We didn't! Went to buy one and there was two left so we had to bring them both home. I think the breeder did it deliberately "which one would you like to leave behind?" well how could we. They are little monsters together though but dont regret it at all as they are so comical.
smile.gif

With our first one - she was the darkest in the litter - so I guess looks with the second - the breeder chose us - hes a rescue siberian husky - beautiful but rubbish for horse owners!

I had the pick of a litter if 16 pups (sadly 2 died) so it was 14 to choose from.

Finn & a brother & 2 sisters (1boy & 1girl got squashed and died
frown.gif
) had been 'surrogated' out to an 'aunty' bitch rather than struggling on mum with the other 12 pups.

I wanted a male and looked at the 12 pups in with mum first, then breeder showed us Finn who was 3 times the size of all his bro/sis's so on the basis that he had had the best start in life and was the cutest boy EVER, and the fact that when I held him he just curled up and went to sleep - opposed to crying when breeder held him... that was that!!
grin.gif

My whippet boy was quite happy playing with his brothers and sisters, but he was the one that brought me a brush from a dustpan and brush set, put it into my hand and let go so I could have it. Even now he is more reliable than our trained gundog for retreiving!

There were 4 left from the litter of 11 when I went to see Loki... They were all lovely and friendly and bouncy - was so hard to pick. But one went to sleep - so that left three and OH said the same one kept coming up to him (am not sure it was tho - cos they all looked identical!) so we took the one he was holding.
grin.gif

And we were very lucky - he is the friendliest, gentlest yet most active and fun labrador I have met in a long time
