... have seen them at a couple of yards but now want to buy one and don't know how to find them! Very tough/sturdy, have a domed lid with a black handle that's not built into the box if you see what i mean. have seen them in bright colours, pink, purple etc. Not made of your normal flimsy plastic - might even have a textured finish to whatever they're made of.

not much to go on, but anyone got a clue?!!? thanks!

ah thanks - i had a look at those and might end up with one of them if I can't find the one I mean! - its got a curved top to it. tricky to describe!!

I know exactly what you're looking for- so am I. Robinsons used to sell them years ago but they have stopped selling them now!
It is a very hard wearding, durable plastic, textured with a hinged slightly domed lid. The handle is hinged but attached half way down the box.

I am looking for one too... If you spot one, let me know!

I know the one you mean! I still have mine for shows- I don't think they have a particular brand name as such, they were a common box that wholesalers used to have in and most tack shops had!

I now have a Hipotronic grooming box which is fabulous- very durable and hard wearing and tall enough so that sprays like Mane & Tail can stand up straight in them and don't leak! I got mine from a local tack shop- think they can order them from wholesalers such as Westgate, Hucklesbys or BHB (Battles).

Another option is the ones that RideAway have in- http://www.rideaway.co.uk/GROOMING-BOX/default.aspx I also had one of these for years!

How about going to your local DIY store and looking at the tool kit boxes - some of them are really sturdy and a plus side not horse/equestrian £££ !!

I so agree with this - after having my daughter trash every type of tack box when standing on it when grooming or plaiting I also ended up in the local builder's merchants and bought a very strong lockable toolbox that fits everything in it for a quarter of the price. Even I can stand on it!!!!
