What makes you smile most about your horse?

He makes me smile because he is a big goon and in his heart he's a Shetland stuck in a Shire's body. He has a wicked sense of humour and is very funny.

Only the other week he stole a bunch of bananas and was swinging them from the stalk in his mouth :-)

I own the equine equivalent of Phil Mitchell - he is even hogged and is a real thug, and is the herd leader. However, like Phil Mitchell, he loves his mum, but only in private, and he would never admit it to his mates. He has the most amazing 'smile' in his eyes when he sees me and he has a very endearing habit of giving me a cuddle with his neck when he knows I need it - but only when we are alone. Poor old Mini TX broke up with her boyfriend on Tuesday and she cried into his neck last night and was rewarded with a lovely cuddle. He also lowers his head when I take his bridle off over his ears. However, the one thing that absolutely cracks me up is his 'Purring'. When he is really, really content, he actually purrs like a cat, it can happen at any time, even if we are out hacking.

He's kept us smiling for 8 years and I hope he will keep us smiling for many more years to come.

Just about anything Jake does can make me howl with laughter but the most comical is his need to stick his tongue on my hand, yawn and role his eyes till you can only see the white. Mum thought he was having a fit the first time he did it :D.

Samson is a typical grumpy git, but it makes me smile that as soon as he hears my voice in the field he will mosey down to meet me.

When mine first came he was quiet & scared.. Now he's constantly talking, & trying to play with me, grabbing my hood, jacket etc then when I turn round he stops & looks away as if he wasn't doing it! Lol.. Also love watching him play in the field with his mates & how he's such a scardy cat but is now 2nd in the pecking order now he's out with youngsters & bosses them all around..lol

His awful sense of humour, like he'll nip me when I have my back to him (not badly, usually just grabs my t-shirt), and I'll turn around and he'll have this "it wasn't me!!" look on his face.

I caught him on camera grabbing my t-shirt, and I started laughing at him cos well, caught! He looked all grumpy and bit my elbow! LOL

Do you know someone said to me once that horses have no character!!!

Ours also once climbed on the muck heap when he'd escaped from being led in. My friend said he was looking all smug until she climbed up after him. The look on his face was priceless apparently, it was a definate oh s**t moment, he got smacked on the bottom and ran off squealing.

He is 16.3hh!!!

I love the way she comes up to me when I'm pooh picking and gently asks me to groom her. Even if there are other horses in the field, she picks me as I know all her itchy spots!

My son's fiirst pony used to start throwing the grooming brushes out of the door if he wasn't being quick enough to tack up! Pony also used to bite his bum if he wasn't quick enough to mount.:D

hummm. my filly - how chilled she is about everything new she makes everything such as first time sitting on etc enjoyable because she's just so relaxed about it all. And how quick a learner she is :). *proud mummy syndrome*. Oh and watching her slowly get bored in the field during afternoon nap time and start gently nudging my TB or rolling on him until he gets fed up gets up and chases her round with her doing her massive floaty trot :p.

My field ornament - how he puts his muzzle to your ear and snuffles you for cuddles and kisses which he absolutely adores.

My retiree - how even now he always has to drag you off (now in walk instead of canter in his younger years) the first time you try to load him on the box before getting on the second time foot perfect. When you scratch him and he pulls his 'ardvark' soooooo goooood face :p.

My gelding - how when you give him a kiss his ears prick up then when he notices you watching him he puts his ears back and pulls his grumpy old man face.

My mare - she's a nice horse generally but she makes me smile most when we are out on a xc course because she is fabulous, loves it, and looks out for me if I do make a bodge. Oh and how she tells you off if you do something wrong. My friend was looking after her at college for me one morning and overslept her alarm. She ran down to the yard and opened the stable door saying 'sorry sorry sorry' and was met by my mare throwing her half bucket of water all over her :p.

Its just the little things I guess :) they all have such different personalities.
