Question in title realy! Felt like a social post :)

With my new one, it would be his eyes I think:

Half blue crescent eyes...matching pair too, he has them both sides. Not wall eyes at all, but genuine blue eyes.

What about yours?

Aaah haflinger's are special lol! One down my old yard could keep up with the TB's all day long I think! Cheeky...but hearts of gold! ;)

Thanks! I love him...but of course that's slightly biased haha :)

His eyes are amazing!

But to answer your question, aren't our own horses just special to us because of the bond we make with them? They may not seem special at all to anyone else.

Those eyes are beautiful.

My girl is just different from everyone elses horse.

For starters, she's built like a tank. If I loose school her it feels like I am standing in the middle of an earthquake as she thunders past. She'll never be elegant or slim but then neither will I! :D

And then there's her colour. She has beautiful pangare colouration and dapples. I love her gentle, trusting brown eyes too.

And then there's just the little things about her, like how I can play with her droopy bottom lip when she is dozing and she won't notice, and the way she starts snoring/heavy breathing if I play with her ears.

My big girl is special to me. :)

Gosh, those eyes are beautiful :)

For me, it's because Tont was unbroken and practically unhandled, when I had him (he was 14), but because I built a bond with him, he'll let me do almost anything with him :D

Oh, he's also got gorgeous markings :D

For me, the fact that she takes such good care of my kids. They are learning so much, and they love her to bits.

She also happens to be incredibly cute, with long white eyelashes. She's an 11.2 Welshie and is just gorgeous.

Scrunchie I know what you mean about the ears - I've discovered if I massage her ear tips she just drifts off...

my horse is "speshul" in many ways, generally it is down to bein a TB, his personality gives him quirks that most would call stupid but i think he is speshul!! Especially the way he eats polos!!
no really he is a 11yo exracer who has now slowly began to gain trust and is now actually a horse rather than a robot. He does have a LOT of potential tho and after a winter of learning to relax under saddle hopefully he will start dressage career next year. He does have beautiful trusting eyes too

My girl has a fallen prophet - like a prophets thumb mark but lower down her shoulder and about the size of a new potato where her neck joins her chest, it's very odd she gets lots of comments from professionals about it that it is rare

Well they are all special aren't they?

The personalities are what make mine special - everyday all 3 of them make me laugh or grin at some point!

my ex racer is ALWAYS scared of something! probably something that has been in his field for 5 years and likes to duck his head behind me forgetting that the 'scary' bag can still see the rest of his body!

my retired man is then always stood looking at him as if to say 'get a grip' cos hes just double hard and nothing can touch him

My new little girl is just plain cheeky and pushes her luck until she gets the youve been naughty tone of voice then sulks at being told off!

Thanks for this post made me smile at work as I typed!:D

When she sees my car pull in to the yard she grabs her headcollar that hangs outside the door and as soon as I step out the car she thros the headcollar at me (or tries to anyway)

Also I love the perfect "C" or half moon shape on her head

She sounds exactly like Fany! What breed is she?
Fany is special because she has the kindest, gentlest nature, is a lovely person who is loved by all who know her. To quote my YO "she has a nature to die for"

Cappy is special, well mainly because he is Cappy. Arrogant, opinionated, gentle, kind and very loving- which is amazing considering he has been abused. He has definite ideas and will not be bossed or bullied, but treated properly is a sweetheart who would never think of raising a hoof to you, he does nip a bit! Full of presence with very extravagant paces. But most of all he is special because he is intelligent, the bond we have is unbreakable and he is a real friend, always loving, always ready for a cuddle.

OP- I love your lad's eyes, they are stunning!

My old lad is special because he kisses me for treats, I ask for a kiss and he puts his mouth over mine and gives me a lovely kiss for a polo, but have to watch it cause his Tongue sometimes will come out. Think he was a dirty old man in his previous life :)
I will never ever find a horse like him again and wouldn't ever try so fingers xd he stays with me for many many more years.

Binky01 very interested to see your lad's lovely eyes - my lad has them too!
Can't work out how to get a pic in the message but here's two pictures of either eye:
http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/album.php?albumid=2263

One is half-blue half-brown, the other is more or less total blue. He is bright bay but has broken edges on his blaze and some odd random white spots, which apparently denotes the Sabino gene, which is coloured horse gene in Welsh breeding. So he is a coloured horse pretending to be bay..and a Welsh sec D, all my fave things rolled into one package!
The other thing that makes him special to me is that he was thought to be only good for a bullet and a few months and a lot of hard work later he is catching up on his education and living a normal life as a young horse. He is going to be my forever riding horse one day...so that is a good good feeling :D
Nice idea for a post!

My cob is special because he always knows exactly how to behave - angelic for pony rides at the local village fete, happy hacker for my mother and a demon jumper for me :D

My highland is special because he can turn a hoof to anything despite his youth and relative inexperience of the world - I've never had more trainable horse - he will literally fly the flag for his country, put himself on a pedestal or kneel down to be mounted :D

My youngster is special because he's got the most amazing extended trot, which looks totally out of place on a highland.

Mostly they're special because they're mine though :D

Mine is a cheeky Welshy, he luvs bananas and would take your arm off for one !!! He has a beauty spot on his nose and laffs when ya tickle his nose..He also follows me round like a dog, when I stop he stops etc..!!!

Worse thing he farts a lot and people look at me in disgust when my friend shouts " Urrggh Joanne !!" and they think it was me !!!

:D What lovely posts! Put a smile on my face too reading them all.

And thankyou for the compliments regarding my boy! He's a big red and white gypsy cob yearing :)

Nothing:(

They are all as common as flies on a muck heap - here.

In the UK a few of them might turn a head or two momentarily because of their colour and breed.

Sophie is special because despite being twenty and having the highest crop ever! She is 13hh at the wither and 13.3hh at her croup. She is definitely a person pony she only behaves for me and even that shes still very cheeky! I love her with all my heart and I hope she does too.

Will is special for being so thick! He is as thick as a wooden plank! But he is the most affectionate pony I have ever met.

Lovely post, made me smile :)

My girl (or is it boy? Or 'it' ) is special is she is a true hermaphrodite! Visually she's a mare, but she had all the full stallion tackle 'under the covers' too. She had a full hysterectomy and gelding so is a true 'it'.

Before it was found that she was a hermaphrodite she was virtually uncontrollable apparantly (just think of all those male hormones AND all the female ones doing battle!) This was before I got her, but it has led to trust issues. I'm told various people tried to sort her behavioural issues out :( She was going to be PTS she was so difficult!

When she came here she didn't really want anything to do with humans, she would never look at you and always looked away from you, hid in the back of stable and generally tried to make herself invisible (hard for 1/2 ton brown horse). Its taken a long time but she does truly trust me (and I her). She will try to hide behind me if there is something scary :D She whinneys when I call her name and she often gets her breakfast lying down as she's too idle to get up and knows I'm 'safe'.

She's adorable but sadly now retired and just a big (much loved) pet.

Beau has the albino gene, started life bay but is now white with liver patches and snowflake spots!

Sonic has issues and most days he's lovely, some days he loses the plot and has to be cuddled not worked. Oh and the biggest head on a 14hh pony ever!!
