What makes your neddy's knees knock?

Big lad is bombproof with everything, but go near him with a spray bottle or a hose with water flowing and he seriously gets upset. Little lad is quite spooky, spooks at holes in the mud !

My mare is petrified of umbrellas, thought i had cracked it by doing loads of ground work with one...... turns out she is still petrified!!!

I've had my lovely new boy since Friday and as he's in isolation and we don't have a saddle yet we've been doing a lot of walking in hand. I imagined he'd be a bit spooky as he's a total country bumpkin from a very small isolated yard and he's now living on a busy London yard, but on the whole he has been a complete star. Hasn't batted an eye at high speed trains whizzing past the outdoor school, London buses, hoards of commuter cyclists, a troop of children from the local nursey in high viz jackets with balloons to mention a few. However, he is absolutely terrified of one particular picnic bench. The moment he catches sight of it we have lots of snorting and prancing and humerous attempts to hide all 16.2 of him behind me so that the tiger that lives under the picnic bench can't eat him. Bless :)

Lorries everything else is fine, he will walk past them but doesn't like them coming past him so we have to hide in a layby or someone's drive if we see one.

My mare is traffic shy with anything bigger than a car. You can literally feel her heart beating in her chest when large traffic passes. She seems to lose control of what her legs are doing and dances from left to right wondering where she should run......we try and avoid roads!

My gelding HATES pigs! One of the first times I hacked him out when breaking him in, I had my friend following me in her car. Came round the corner to a pig. He had never seen a pig before and as he was all new to the forest and already in reverse up the road I jumped off and my friend got out the car and we proceeded to walk him in-hand to meet the bacon butty, one of us either side of him as he was a tad histerical about it all lol. We didnt get far, he dragged us up a bank and he jumped a barbed wire fence and buggared off into a hotel car park.....oops! Since then he has been on a yard that had pigs, they were behind his stable and he jumped out to get away from them, yard owner got rid of the pigs as she didnt like him being scared!

Silly nagletts!

Cally will walk past ANYTHING on a hack, except gates and telegraph poles/lamp posts/post boxes, strange mare! Brandy is a bit worried with big logs or boulders used to block off field entrances around the yard, but otherwise goes past pretty much anything. Diamond is petrified of pheasants after one jumped out of a hedge in front of him and Saff can get a fright of pretty much anything, nothing in particular. For instance, the sheep on our yard did a runner last week and she shot off broncing with me on top...

My horses are strange.

Well something set Kal off today . . . who knows what . . . wind/rain/flappy plastic in hedge/sky the wrong colour/a tuft of grass moved the wrong way . . . but he was a nutjob in the field (first time he's done that at new yard) and was still really, really jumpy when I brought him onto the yard (also unusual) . . . something obviously in the air today.
