What meals do you cook in your horsebox?

M&S meals are good ,not a fan of fry ups in the lorry because of the grease and stink, better on a BBQ for when only a grease fest will do:D ,spag boll chilli , baked spuds , salads , sausages and mash, poached egg /beans etc on toast...

Years ago my old boss had a client who had originally trained as a chef, & although not one any longer was still very exacting about meal quality. Her lorry had a kitchen with better equipment than most houses. She used to cook extravagant 3 course dinners, served with a selection of fine wine, & stuff like freshly home baked bread at lunch, home made croissants. Her lorry food was generally restaurant type eating. Being poverty stricken grooms with huge appetites, we used to scrap as to whom groomed for her at a comp.

I've just started to make Samosa's at home - pre make them with whatever filling you like (usually left-overs with me) and then wrap them in a pastry made with 2 cups plain flour, 2 tsp oil, 3/4 cup water, pinch of salt.

If you make them fairly flat - when you're in the lorry, just fry the pre-made samosa's in a fair amount of olive oil & you're there.

I have finally got an oven in my lorry, which has the added bonus of heating the living up, so I no longer have to eat food that can only be cooked on a hob - at a 5 day show things that you add hot water too do get boring.

If I am really lucky my husband may stay over and he thinks of himself as a proper Ray Mears. He bakes bread and cooks shoulder of lamb, also amazing stews on a charcoal BBQ.

I will admit though that we get Chinese delivered when we go to Wales and West, you can normally find some sort of takeaway that does 'home' delivery at shows.

Anything that can be cooked on a hob! I also v rarely use the microwave.

Last time out I did steak! V simple - pop new pots in pan and boil, in frying pan fry steak (i used fillet) and then remove; then pop slices of stilton in pan with cream - melt, etc and then pout over steak. Serve with new pots and salad out a bag. Its lovely and very easy!
