I can't help, but I'll be interested to find out as I have one! Can't remember buying it or using it, but I suspect that I must have got it for a horse of mine who has been dead for 18 years.

My money is on a KK, as I have various other KK bits from that era.

ETA Re read your OP properly :o, looks like mine is a sprenger tongue correction bit.

Did you buy this on ebay? I was looking at it and thinking exactly the same thing op.... Unfortunately I was out when the listing ended or I'd have bid on it. Looks to me like you've got yourself a serious bargin there.

While it was listed I rang up NS, they told me to send a photo through if I ended up with it and they would identify whether or not it was there's, although no, they do not do this type now.

Ah, right. Well if I were you give NS a call and tell them you would like to send a photo. They most certainly don't make that type anymore but will tell you if it's one of theirs. I also thought it was sprenger when I saw the photo.

I recently sold one on Ebay, it was a NS Intermediare or sometimes called schooling bit. My horse had awful tongue issues but it didnt solve them. I have also tried the KK version which is a loose ring. I wasnt aware NS didnt do them anymore.

QB, I've just dug mine out and it is a 5 1/4" NS bit similar to the one in the OP. If you want to try it, I'm happy to lend it to you for a month if you pay return postage.

I still can't remember buying it or which horse I tried it on! I don't want to sell it, as experience dictates that no sooner have I sold something, I will promptly need it again ;).
