I was riding in the school this evening and found out 2 new things ...

1. we don't mind fireworks :)
2. collections of jump wings are very scarey (well it is halloween :o)

so have any of you found out something new about your neddy lately?

I have finally figured out how to lunge my daughters pony without it having a hissy fit-it lunges fine anti clockwise but not clockwise. So I put her on board to kick on, all he does is swing his bum round to face you but by turning so I am "leading from a distance" it works-why I don't know I guess he is a dopey pony. Problem is it is easier to face him when lunging than play peekaboo. Jot trying to hijack polly peewee but any advice would be lovely :) xx

that he's not fit enough to be full on galloping behind a racehorse (and trying to keep up with his shorts legs), bless him ;) We went out for a gentle walk today and he could hardly lift his hooves..

Schooled in the grass arena with my solar floodlights tonight, and he cant see the odd wet patches clearly so doesnt nap at them, managed a lovely straight line on the arena side that he usually does the slalem on. So it isnt the feel of wet, its the look of it

My daughters gelding will actually carry on cantering through massive puddles without thinking that he will be swallowed up, its something to spook at / avoid at all costs even trying to get round the sides of said puddle when there is no room!

As well as actually cantering through, he likes making a big splash at the same time, was wonderful, i came back from my ride with a mud splattered face (and a smile).

Completely and utterly different than my wonderful mare (RIP) little girl.

Since losing my mare i have taken over the riding of my daughters gelding whilst she is away at Uni and even though we have owned him for 5 years i have taken a back seat with him until now, learning and loving new things about him daily.

haha, I'm loving these horses never fail to make me smile.

Also forgot that yesterday I discovered that my boy doesn't like barley rings, I watched him sift them all to one side whilst eating his feed then when he got to the end and they were everywhere he got hold of the bucket in his teeth and shook it to make them all go to one side so he could get to the dregs of what lay beneath without having to eat the evil things :D:D

My 36 year old doesn't like feed bucket holders :D

I spent ages, and upset the more sensitive horses, fitting one for him. Drilled into the concrete and put wall plugs in, so a half decent job.

He has managed to remove it complete with screws and wall plugs still intact.

I only fitted the dammed thing so he could get more food, so it serves him right.

That his knee is bruised and swollen but hopefully not damaged!

Nicolenlolly, we once had a pony like that in a riding school that I worked in, and it drove us all mad. Eventually the RS owner decided to sell it as a companion with another horse that was being sold. The buyers had it vetted and it turned out to be blind in one eye..

Ooohh me me! I found out yesterday that we can jump grids! It was super fun! And also found out last week that she actually quite likes being ridden in the dark under the floodlights where as I had thought she would be really spooky! I am finding out lots about her at the moment, even though I've had her almost 2 years, as I have suddenly regained my confidence and we are trying new things. She is a super star and I love her to bits (but I knew that bit already!)

That she has pitted odema and the vet needs to test her blood :( and that it isn't heart failure :)

Also that I love her more than I thought (and that was already a lot) :)

That my boy doesn't like me making a fuss of other horses!! I have been looking after a friend's horse whilst their away and whilst I was mucking out their stable which is alongside Billy's he kept trying to grab my attention and play with my hair

Found out today that he doesn't get loose schooling and basically lunged himself with an invisible lunge line for the first 5 minutes! Bless! He got the hang of it by the end but we ended up doing join up, he's so sweet always wants to be with me :D

Honey08 oh no don't say that...he is only 4 and my little girl's soul mate. They play catch in the field and he follows her round like a loyal pup. I'm hoping to send them to pony club next year-she's only 5 so giving them both time to mature. Vet is due for jabs soon so I will ask her to check :) thank you xx

That my boy is a bully to the tiny pony and a handful for my mum in the mornings when he's gotten scared during the night because of fireworks!

Also he seems to like his routine even more than mum's young TB

He is more spooky and silly when it's windy. Yes it's quite common but he's not usually spooky, I rode him in the dark the other day and he was fine!

And also he and the other horse on the yard are very well behaved when you ride and lead them even if it's windy and raining. Although they do keep trying to get ahead of each other! ;)

At the weekend I found out he's actually quite good at jumping and seems to quite enjoy XC!

That my lad suddenly doesn't like motorcycles with top boxes on them! We did a rather abrupt about turn today having spotted one. It's not like I should've known this at all, I've only had him almost 12 years you know :o

That my 17hh warmblood would climb into my arms and hide from the fireworks if she could. She just has to settle for pushing her head into them instead (they're not all that scary if she can't see them).

Oh and micronised linseed means I may never need to wash her coat again as its absolutley gorgeous :)

Oh I didn't mean to depress you! The pony was fine in a good individual home. I always felt bad that we had all got so irritated with her and never worked it out.. Yours probably isn't anyway. Your post just took me back..

That my 'new' beastie is very wonky and needs some Bowen treatment and chiro visits to sort her out.....and hopefully stop the explosive behaviour!

My two and three year olds can manage to jump over a five bar gate.. . .

Great. This is so they could get to the hay in the barn. Doesn't matter that they still had hay available on the yard from the same blooming batch of hay
