Just wondering whats the best oil to feed horses cod liver oil, linseed, or just plain vegetable or sunflower oil that you can buy in the shop?

And how much should be given to a 14.3hh ?

I go for sunflower oil from Tesco much cheaper than linseed but works just as well. I also feed micronised linseed to one horse though.

I don't think vegetable is as good as it has more things in it. I don't really measure out a certain amount just poor a bit in everyday in each feed.

Tesco sunflower oil costs 4.6 p per MJ while micronised linseed (20 kg sack delivered from farmandperplace.co.uk) costs 5.8 p per MJ. So linseed, on an energy basis, is about 25 % more expensive than sunflower oil. However the omega 6:3 ratio in linseed is much better than sunflower :) Sunflower is high in pro-inflammatory omega 6s. That's why I'd always choose micronised linseed.
