Hi all, basically what oils are you feeding your horses?
I was feeding my mare super codlivine the joint supplement but the oil version and was really annoyed to discover that it is basically vegetable oil with hints of primrose oil and cod liver oil! I paid £19 for 2 litres! I was wondering if any of you just feed vegetable oil instead? Or what do you use?

I get sick of horsey things being double the price of everything else! Hence the reason I am now feeding hardly any concentrates and more hay!

One of them gets alfa a oil in his feed so doesn't get any additional oil but another had quite dry skin so started giving her vegetable oil. She looks so much brighter in herself and the dry skin has cleared up so I'm just keeping her on it :)

Oh I was thinking about feeding her linseed oil but hadn't heard much about it, I will have a look into that though. Thank you. I know my old boss used to feed corn oil to her eventers and she swore by it!

Hmm I will have a look into it, I am feeding oil to mine more for her joints than for the extra calories I will have a look into linseed oil though, it seems popular!

I use linseed oil mixed with soya oil for weight gain (3 parts linseed to one part soy), and also started feeding Sumo Original recently. My horse needs a diet high on oil and is a bit on a fussy eater, so I have to disguise it somehow!
