I was reading the thread about AP to ride Denman on the LN board, and thought I would look up AP on youtube to see a few of his finer moments... Came across this vid (sorry if it's been posted before) - what on earth is going on?! I haven't watched it with the sound as am sitting in the office, not sure if that helps explain it, lol! Surely these must be youngsters or the ground must have been terrible??

UUMM! Everyone takes a fall. AP McCoy gets back on his ride and finishes the race and wins. Not the first time this has happened in NH racing and sure won't be the last.

I've just read his autobiography and I *think* this race is described in there...

If I remember rightly its a novice chase and the ground is awful - everyone falls, he remounts and goes on to win, as shown on youtube. The winning race time was around 15 minutes long apparently, one of the longest ever for that type of race.

That is sooo funny! I've never seen anything like that in my life! Every single horse fell, or unseated the jockey. That one that just fell off after the jump was brilliant!
I didn't know you could catch your horse, get back on and continue but obviously you can if it's worth your while...

Errr, actually...

McCoy, who was placed in last year's Grand National after remounting his horse, is believed to be the first jockey to win a race in which all the horses fell, including his own

I don't think the ground was a problem, it was a small field and the last 3 horses un-shiped the riders at the same fence, the problem with novice chasers (I've ridden a few) if they see a horse not jumping a fence a something scares them it doesn't take much for them to loose concentration and then the loose confidence. All the falls looked like unlucky novicey mistakes.

I'm glad remounting has been banned. I don't like watching them fall once, watching the same horse fall twice is horrible! I have to say though, I found it much funnier watching it a second time having found out that all horses and jockeys were unscathed.
