ok- i have one of my horses out on loan, a tb x mare who is an amazing jumper but a bit too much work for me as i have a buisness and a 2 year old child so cant devote the time i need to her.Loanee (who i found thro this site) has decided for one reason and another to terminate agreement,so we put her up for sale, silly mare then goes and hurts herself just after the 30days agreement is up- after scans and xrays that show nothing other than a bruise (i wanted to be sure no permanent damage has been done)shes ready to ride again. Thing is i cant afford 2 horses here and loanee is going on holiday for 2 weeks just as she can be ridden, so what do i do? She can ride her better than me and there is no space at my yard meaning 2 horses on DIY at different yards, which is just unmanageable with a baby and work. We are feeling the pinch as our business is related to the property industry so can barely afford the one we have.(OH V stressed about her coming back)Loanee is being v reasonable and will keep her and sell her for me (i have offered a cut and to pay keep)but if so i need to pay quartley livery in advance which isnt great as she might sell in a week. I know this all allpart ofkeeping and loaning horses and i am taking responsibility just not sure what to do!
so do i...
1.keep horse with loaner until end of sept (when current livery qtr runs out) which gives us 10 days after she gets back from hols to sell her(bearing in mind she will have had 6 weeks off)
2.bring her home to a different yard to mine and turn her away for winter (altho mucking out 2 at different yards isnt a great option)
3.bring her home asap and attempt to ride her (i dont have a saddle but have looked into renting one) and just sell her for what i can
such a rubbish time to sell tho! shes a lovely mare who needs a great competition home so isnt goingto be everyones cup of tea
Please no nasty comments as both of us are users on here and the situation is quite amicable we are just trying to work out what to do for the best?!
Blimey sorry to ramble but what would you do?
