Curious! Just thought would be interesting to know if anyone was in pony club and what test you have?
After teaching C/C+ past while it got me thinking about HHO!

I will get the ball rolling, I have my AH and am currently (yes still in PC!) training for A.

So what about you? :)

B, got bored after that. Was going to do AH but instead did my introduction to coaching then coaching development and am using pony club to qualify to teach.

C+, passed when I was 14 and then was stumped by total lack of horse to go further with (my old boy only just got through what was needed for C+, got told he wasn't suitable post-exam). Quit PC at 16.

My sister has her B and wants to do her lunging test this summer, and is taking the same path as Rebels atm.

None, never did pony club although always thought it looked great! Didn't get my own pony until I was 15 and assumed I was too old. Never found out if I was or not!

C and C+ were OK. The B test was difficult, passed the riding section first time, the stable management second time and third time passed both. Did a weekend H test training but the exam was hard, Lunging and ride and lead from a double bridle. Hope the modern tests are less old fashioned and easier!

on my c+, have done my care but my pc has zero initiative and is yet to book a riding assessment which i've been waiting to do for over 2 years now. i would like to progress further and at least get my B

B is organised at area level, so it might be worth contacting your area rep to ask about training? Our area held a few group training days as well, which seemed good although Al didn't attend any (time!).

D+ and only because you could do them at pony camp. Didn't do much with my pony club except camp. They were very rich and competitive and I was neither!

Did PC D test in 1972 or thereabouts :) (OK so I'm a dinosaur). Went to camp in 1976 (remember it distinctly coz it was a hot dry summer and the ground was as hard as a rock). We were scheduled to do C test on the last day of camp but my pony wouldn't/couldn't do the correct canter lead so we were failed in spite of having done it in all the lessons we'd had, perfectly. That afternoon my poor little chap went lame, probably the hard ground dunnit.

After that I thought well stuff Pony Club (I was 15 at the time and was damned if I was gonna take C test again!).

Of course, these youngsters nowadays probably haven't a clue what D, C, B and A test are all about, bless 'em.

Daughter has up to C+ but is now stumped as i can't afford to go out and replace her 13.3hh (who she fits nicely BTW) pony and she doesn't jump over 2ft6 XC really so PC won't put her any further up........

Daughter (17) got her C+ 3yrs ago then got bored of doing tests. She doesn't want a job doing anything with horses (wants to keep it as a hobby) so didn't feel the need to carry on. She knows enough & hates any kind of exam/test situation so now she just enjoys pc without the stress of tests ;) xx

I think I did my D test, as a 15year old then moved away from riding school and got my own horse so never took it up again.
Looked into it recently though and you can join until you are 25 so am reaaaally tempted to do the rest of my training at my local riding school :)
Big man is only a light hack now so can't do them on him :(

I've got my B test riding- passed it upon my first attempt. Didn't want to take the stable management at the same time as I also had my AS levels to deal with. I will take the care in August and hopefully go on to do my lunging test before next year. I'd like to go as far up as possible and have my B+ before I head off to uni next year! :)

Can she not borrow a horse to do her B on? I know that happens in quite a few cases where the rider's mount is not up to the level of the test.

To those that want to go higher but don't have the horse power can you not borrow a horse? Our area B test is at Huntley school of equitation which means you can hire there horses for the test. That's what I did as they said Andy may have frightened the other candidates so wasn't allowed to go :p

daughter did her B in the summer after GCSE's then after much pestering a lungeing test was organised. For the following 5 years she was in top ride at every rally (only did 3 a year to qual for teams) where yet again they worked toward B test. She no longer goes to PC. Her PC really doesn't ofer anything to post 16's

B at camp when I was 14, (40 years ago today!) didn't have my own pony, went to camp on a riding school pony which couldn't jump and got given the DC's daughter's eventer for the jumping section of the test. Seriously happy day!

I took my A back in the mid 70's (eek!). My daughter has her C+, will take her B care this summer and her B riding next. (She also has her BHS RRS and with her B test will go straight to BHS stage 3 when she is old enough - she is only 13 now!)

You do often have to hire a horse for the B test - I know neither of our lads are suitable. (One plod - one mad!)

I found the way to get the PC doing things we wanted was to get on the committee and organise them! Doesn't work so well if you are still under 16 - find a willing parent and pester them.

Or switch to our branch - we orgainse loads!

I did my b test when I was 16 (on a borrowed horse, as my pony was a little *******), I didn't do anymore tests as I lost interest in pony club after that.

I used to go for lessons at Waterstock House & found that there was a real conflict in styles, after a lesson at Waterstock I'd be told that I was doing it wrong, so I had to make a choice & I went with Waterstock.

Did my C and then pretty much left PC - no time due to competing and a difference in opinion on riding style (they still believed you should go forward 3 strides before a fence and try to touch the pony's ears ) meant that I saw little point continuing.

Did my D when I lived abroad around '76 or '77 . When we moved back to this country in '79ish I joined again but at that time I had no access to a horse . The lovely DC would ring and offered me a ride on her grey pony ( can't remember her name or branch though poss. HH but can remember pony !) but I was too much of a wimp to take up her offer . The next year when I came home from school in the holidays I started helping at the local stud and had ponies I would have been able to use . I just assumed by that stage I would be too old but it seems by other answers on here I would not have been .
