Well firstly I still haven't managed to sell my horse so am not too panicked about buying yet but......... just cannot decide what to get!!!

Have been browsing the ads and am so surprised about how little is out there that I think may be suitable. So I keep getting tempted by the youngsters, which I think will not be right! Although my instructor keeps telling me not to rule out a 5 year old, to be honest I am not sure I want to do that again.

I also don't want to keep a pony in livery anymore (have had enough of all that!). I have my own land so want to just keep a pony at home and hack out a couple of times and week. And sometimes lunge my kids on the pony. So I am thinking older, but how old is too old???? And how much should you expect to pay for something in their mid teens? Also what type of breed?

Basically bored of browsing and finding nothing tempting so need some ideas to perk me up please!

PS am in France, otherwise would ask for help with shopping!

Get a nice solid native, cob or either cross of them two :) Something 10+, been there done it and maybe just needs a quieter life, or even one that's always just been a safe hack [as not all 'older' ones that need a quieter life, are necessarily suitable/quiet for any rider - just bear that in mind too!]?

For anything 6-12 who's a good solid genuine safe hack allrounder type, I'd price at anything from £1500-2500+, as safety sells. However, for anything older with maybe some ailments or history to it, anything from £500-1200.

Just depends what you want :)
