What qualifications do you need to do your own spraying?

Allman sprayer, quite old but still does the job. Allman Sprayer - Billericay Farm Services sell them, a very simple mechanically operated machine says OH, and runs off the pto.
Thank you for this. Buying equipment is so mind-boggling if you don't know much about such things. I'll have a look tomorrow.

I successfully killed all the buttercups in my field with 'Envy' and a knapsack sprayer. Took about 3 hours for the full field.
Not too sure if it kills ragwort as we don't have any (luckily) although I think it may but you would need to look it up.
I recommend also using blue dye or food colouring just something to colour the weed killer so you know what you have sprayed and what you have missed!

OH did the backpack spray course because we were led to believe that we wouldn't be able to buy the weed killer. Not true. Neither of us have been asked for the certificate. Merchants can legally sell it to anyone, but it is apparently illegal for anyone who hasn't done the course to use it, but who on earth is checking? Common sense has prevailed for many years with weed control. Just more legislation? We use a tractor mounted sprayer for the fields.

We sell sprays at work and I refuse to give any new customer anything unless they have been to the shop and the shop workers have checked they have the certificate. I’m not sure if it’s illegal or not but I’m not risking it.

It astounds me how many people want to spray their fields but they haven’t done a single ounce of research into what they need to use. Common sense often feels like a dying art 😂
