I know you can get training via BD but wondering if to judge local riding club, intro and prelim levels, specific training has to be undertaken first?
TIA
Anyone can judge unaff dressage, however, most venues will only use listed or trainee judges from the judges section of bd, to become a trainee you need a certain number of results over a certain % at least at novice. I started the training and was inundated with offers from local venues asking me to judge so that seems to be the way they go about getting judges.
I have been judging for a while now and all of the judges know each other, I have seen a few people thrown in to cover in an emergency with no real experience whatsoever which has only been in desperate circumstances but have seen some interesting sheets and scores as a result!
Anyone with a reasonable competition record could be asked to judge the local Pony Club class, or even Riding Club, but beyond that you have to go on training courses.
