I'm currently with the RAC but just have the basic level of cover and I'd be stuck if I broke down far from home with the trailer!

I just wondered who others use and what level of service you use? I'd like to ensure that we weren't stranded especially as during the summer we'll travel a fair distance to competitions!

Any recommendations on who would be best to use?

I have trailer/horsebox breakdown & recovery through my horse insurance with NFU.

It's fairly comprehensive, covers you/your horse and not your box (so if you get stuck in someone else's trailer), also includes emergency livery fees if you can't get home.

Not sure if they offer it separately to horse cover though, you can only ask I guess! :)

Hmm Horse and Trailer are insured with NFU so may give them a call to see if we also have the breakdown cover!

Would read your policies VERY VERY carefully!!!!! Especially one company that is named here!

I only use www.equinerescueservices.co.uk

The cover LONG distance recovery, stabling, hotels and ONWARD horse transport!

They have a dedicated CONTROL ROOM and only employ people who KNOW about horses!

Cannot recommend them enough!

I don't like the bit about Recovery of horsebox to nearest suitable garage or your home, whichever is closer, who decides which is a suitable garage - I would rather my horsebox was taken home as at least then I know I wasn't being ripped off by 'the suitable garage'

I would like to be taken home, then the horses are safe home and you can deal with the breakdown, they are priority in my eyes

I've got mine through RAC trailer assist, you have to have a miminum car cover, roadside recovery I think

I have RAC Trailer Assist and fortunately havent had to use them. Its good value for money at £45 for the year and my Breakdown cover is with them too. I know how much they value their customers as my OH is a RAC Patrolman and is very conscientious about his job. I dont get if for free so not saying this for that reason.
