What riding jackets do you use for schooling and hacking?

I'm curious because I need a new one and despite looking in 3 local tack shops haven't seen anything I like.

Used to like Musto although no one round here seems to stock them so might have to buy something off internet. Any recommendations/links for any makes really appreciated.

Thanks :)

I don't buy horsey brand coats as they are mostly rubbish cheap tat sold at daft prices. I buy hiking or cycling gear which is much better made for the price. I have a berghaus goretex jacket, a couple of paramo jackets, a paramo gilet, and a montaine jacket. Oh and a hi viz windproof showerproof cycling shirt from aldi!

Al wears an Ariat blouson for most not-nice weather, then has a selection of un-hooded gilets from places like Primark and New Look for cold but dry and then for the deepest winter has a full length riding coat she got off a stand at Burghley... Brand begins with a T I think! She rides 3/4 a day in all weathers and this combination keeps her warm and dry.

I wear a Gersemi one. I wouldn't normally spend that much on an everyday coat but you certainly get what you pay for. It is warm, washes well with the added bonus that it is a flattering cut :)

I have a north face circadian jacket. It's gortex and just a shell it is the only jacket I don't find too heavy warm or bulky to ride in. Have schooled and sj and xc trained in it. Plus it's properly waterproof which none of the horsy brands seem to be!

Whatever comes to my hand on that day.

i dont think about what I ride in unless im at a party, everything else is just whatever I touch first in the horsey clothes cupboard.

I tend to ride in fleeces most of the time. Even when wet as I take a spare set of clothes if I know im getting wet :)

For Autumn/Spring then I tend to wear my Mark Todd blouson.

For colder weither I wear either my Musto combination or Joules combination jacket.

In really miserable weather I wear my full length Tayberry coat, usually with a coat underneath!
