What rugs are you using at the mo?

The weather is being quite random at the mo. My horse has a blanket clip so i've been using her MW turnout with neck when she is out in the day. But at night I keep switching between her MW stable with no neck and her HW combo stable rug - occasionally leaving the neck folded back.

I wish the weather would just make its mind up so I can stick with one rug! Are you having the same problems this year? Which rugs are you using?

Mine stay in their turnouts and only have a stable rug if they are on box rest.

Both of my horses have a chaser clip. One is in a medium turnout with neck and the other in a heavier weight turnout with neck.

As a general rule I don't see the point in taking a warm rug off a horse to put a cold one. However both are regularly ridden so their condition check and rub checks are done regularly.

Medium Weight no neck. Horse turned out 24/7 - clipped out except saddle patch & legs. He has a field shelter, natural shelter, and his weight is absolutely spot on.

We had one cold 2 degree day last week, but it's still quite warm for the time of year down here. Don't really want to put him in his HW until we are seeing consistent temperatures under 5 degrees every night.

all mine live out 24/7. 2 of mine have HW weatherbeeta combos as their MW leaked in the last huge down pour - they are fully clipped. my other fulled clipped one has her MW fal combo on and the 2 furries have rain sheets on.

Mine are not clipped, in at night and have not yet worn a rug

Mines turned out in a rain sheet during the day and in, naked at night. I put a 100g stable rug on the other night and she was hot and grumpy in the morning. Unclipped TBx

Both are out 24/7, unclipped and out of work.

Star the oldie is in a 200gm, MW Rambo, with neck.

Be, LW, no fill, Rambo with neck - just changed her into that today, after being in one with no neck. It's new and I left her spotless, but I can guess what that's going to look like tomorrow morning

Ban fully clipped and in at night, H/W combi during the day as in an exposed field and in a H/W combi at night and sometimes has a sherpa on underneath in temps reach 2 or below.

Lord is unclipped and in a M.W with no neck during the day (he gets cold in anything less as I check before I leave) and in a M.W combi at night as again he gets cold in anything less before anyone ambushes me

Charlie (TB) is fully clipped and wearing a 400g full neck turnout, he's out during the day and in a big barn at night.

Millie (Section A) is fully clipped and wearing a 200g full neck turnout, also out during the day and in the barn at night.

Pixie (Cob Yearling) has had a light weight rain sheet put on for the first time tonight, she's out 24/7 in a field with only natural shelter.

Boy has dropped weight GRRRRRRRR, dont wont to change to HW yet, what do you think, Just mindfull that the really cold weather has not come yet!!!

both fully clipped and wearing hw turnouts and hw stables, when it got below minus the other day they did have there under rugs on but only the one night. most horses on the yard are already in 2 rugs (HW and UR) at night full time

Unclipped, some not rugged. Rugged ones are in MW's. Out 24/7.

Yay

it has finally got cold (for a day or two anyway) so my ground is freezing up nicely. Only -4C today, but with windchill it has been feeling about -10. Forecast to go to -10C through the night.
