What rugs have you got on?

Mine has nothing on and neither do any of his field mates. He's a friesian and they are tbs. In the other fields a lot have lw or no fills on though.

None. Very sheltered field. Might stick a lightweight on Ted if the rain continues tomorrow, he's likes his comforts more than the other two and is more prone to feeling the weather. However, I went down tonight after it's been on and off raining all day and they were already drying out and warm to the touch. It's almost a tad muggy in their field.

Nothing on my NF mare, lightweight rugs on the two wussy geldings - despite dark mutterings from my husband that they aren't made of sugar so they won't dissolve in the rain :D

Mine has been out nekkid and is perfectly happy. He's going in a rain sheet tomorrow solely so that I can ride later without having to dry him off - I'm not particular about the no-saddle-on-wet-horse rule, but current neddy really doesn't enjoy a saddle on his wet back; can't say I blame him.

It's 16 degrees and your horse has a heavyweight rug on! Mine's a tb and has been naked for weeks and I thought I was being soft because I put a rainsheet on him tonight. It's only 11 degrees here but it's still not cold. Mine's the only one in the field with a rug on.

I don't like being critical but heavyweight rugs are designed for cold weather, and while we would love our English summers to be much warmer and drier, it is not really that cold. I wish it was 16 degrees up here!

Well mine are all out naked..........except Rea ( couldn't resit posting a piccie!! )

But she is only a week old!!

One of mine has a lw on as if he gets really wet he gets cold, but my mums cob & my haffy are naked although I nearly gave in to putting their lw's on today, but I didn't I stayed strong & hard :p

My ID and WB boys have been completely naked since end of Feb.
Do what you feel is right though its your horse :-)

- I personally wouldn't worry about rugging just because it is so warm, it wouldn't be nice to be all hot and sweaty - horses are designed to cope with rain ;-) they are out door animals :-). I very much doubt it'll hurt them at all X

mine are naked but did consider lw's due to the heavy persistent rain - but it is not cold and they have shelter so decided to leave them - mine are mainly chunky hardy types

Medium no neck. She's out in a small paddock with no shelter, natural or otherwise, and was cold in her rainsheet this evening. Gale force winds predicted and heavy rain.

With 70mph winds coming up from the estuary with no shelter have softened and bought him in to give him a break from the last 2 day battering from the winds!! Also gives me a chance to get the rug off his back!!

My 2yo who lives out 24/7 is naked and fine. He has lots of natural shelter and a man-made shelter but would prefer to stand out in the rain all day. Occasionally I worry about him if its really cold and raining as the combination can make him shiver but he still refuses to move out of the rain so I let him be.

My older boy has a sweet itch rug with a lightweight turnout on top, just to stop the sweet itch rug becoming soaked on him. If he didn't have sweet itch he would be out naked too.

I would only rug if either were losing condition from the weather, but fortunately they don't.

Rainsheets.
The weather has been so awful though, that if I hadn't put my MWs in for cleaning I might have resorted to one of those.
You really would have thought, wouldn't you, that it would be safe to put away MWs by June! Oh well...

I was a little bit worried about my girl last night. The bad weather has just hit us in Plymouth and whilst we are now on 24/7 turn out if we wish, most of the yard have bought their horses in either for the day or night. My girl prefers to be out so I've been leaving her out. I rushed up this morning knowing it had been a rough night and tha she only had a lightweight on, I walked all the way to the field thinking I'd either rug her with a medium and neck or perhaps if she was shivering, bring her in. Well I got up there and she was grazing happily and toasty under her lightweight. She ate her fast fibre and then went back to grazing so whilst it's blowing a gale out there and raining hard again tonight, I'm not feeling bad. I sometimes have to tell myself that she is a horse and not a human!

Apache has got his little lightweight waterproof mac on but he has his shelter (complete with deep, warm, snuggly, comfy straw bed) to nestle in when it all gets a bit much... He is a hardy cob as well who is out in most weather- I think it's fine for you to put a thicker rug on your horse, I mean after all it is your decision, and also it is horrid- I mean down here in Kernow the weather is appalling- the sheep marque at Royal Cornwall had to be evacuated due to the wind and rain earlier on today :/!!! Personally though my boy will be fine in his mac in his shelter/stable.. :)

Fly rug. She was absolutely drenched through when I saw her last tonight. She was toasty warm and eating happily though.

Coblet has waffle rug and medium light just because it's already dirty!
Exmoor is naked he is carrying a little extra weight!

It's not raining heavily where I am, just a light drizzle all the time but I've got mine in a waterproof lightweight to keep her dry but not too warm. x

Most of mine are naked - from the welsh pony, to a fine TB mare, to my hulking great andalusian x ish lummox. The old boys however, who are all poor doers and feel the cold are wearing rugs. The one who is stabled has a medium weight stable rug on, the two who are out are wearing heavyweights with necks, as weren't warm at all in mediums this evening. But it is blowing a gale at was 10 degrees and falling up here while I was doing evening stables.
Just checked everyone and they're all toasty and happy. It just depends entirely on your horse as to how you rug them.

It is 16 degrees but very windy and rainy! Is it ok that hun has her heavy on? She has a very thin coat and it is pretty cold! What rugs have you gt on your gei geis? 

Swapped the TB's no fill for a MW as he was soaked through and the young QH was shivering like he was possessed and totally at odds with himself so he got dried off and a MW shoved on as the (currently) shared LW was dripping... The others are naked and just fine and dandy with that...

True to the weather warnings though we've got the wind and rain - it's pretty cold and abysmal out there particularly on exposed, high ground...:(

 It's 25C out there.

I wish... Might lose a few of my own layers if it was...

:D
