My thoroughbred got fully clipped today (including head, legs left on) - he's looking very smart just wondering what rugs you lot have got on your clipped horses? I'm in the North East.
both of mine are in medium weight turnout rugs full time, with an under-rug if 'very cold', like 3 degrees and under - one clipped and STILL hairy!!!! (what is going on????), one unclipped but thin hair. i live in the south, 20 miles from the sea.
My connie is in a 200g turnout when he's out which is sometimes 24/7 and a fleece and 100g stable when he's in.
Needs re-clipping this week and will be having something more on as he's only just warm enough in above, probably a tiny bit on the cold side in the middle of the night.
The racehorses are in a PE 450g full neck rug with a middle weight under rug. When it gets really cold they will have a heavyweight stable rug added. This is up in Scotland.
East midlands, wooden looseboxes. Clipped bar legs and head, 3 x LW stable rugs. The horse in question is a young TB, hates being cold, gets easily tucked up, grumpy, tight, etc. I don't of course advocate this to every horse!
My fat and hot boy has been in a full neck rainsheet in day and mw stable rug underneath at night. Needs re clipping this week and i will have a MW no neck and the full neck rainsheet over top
I'm in Leicestershire - it's cold up here this evening!! My fully clipped hunter (except for legs) is wearing a Mark Todd Combo Underrug and a HW Weatherbeeta Combo. Also he is wearing stable chaps - spoilt pony!
Essex - Hunter clipped TBx wearing a 250g turnout combo day and night. She is a warm horse though, rarely gets up to a heavyweight and holds her west well.
I have my mardy Thoroughbred in a Rhino H/W stable rug with neck cover when he's stabled and a Rhino H/W turnout with neck cover when he's in the field.
The under rug will be coming out at the end of the month
Midlands, TB x welsh, hunter clip, out overnight in 220grm rug with neck. She is very hot horse & even when clipped again this week will probably not want anything heavier yet
My mare has just been clipped for the second time last week, full clip except for legs and half a head. She's just gone into a medium weight with neck 250g
My fully clipped is in a 360g with a 200g stable rug and fleece at night and out in a 450g during the day! I have a very cold horse, you'd never think he was such a cold horse
ISH with a hunter clip, re done today, out 24/7 with a Rambo sheet and neck cover - no fill so just a sheet. Ad lib hay in the field shelter for when he needs it. Nice and warm.
