What rugs?

My daughter has recently brought a 13.1 gelding hes 21 yrs young we want to make sure we keep him warm for winter as he stays out at yr round. We have been giving him 16 plus and speedy beet to keep his weight on but now we want to buy rugs just not sure what we need there are so many what is the best light weight medium or heavy waterproof or is it light weight n waterproof over the light weight i really dont want to get it wrong as he is loved dearly and we want him to be snug warm and happy Thanks

if he has a wooly coat u could use a light waterproof rug if hes fine haired u shud buy a heavyweight waterproof.

Is he clipped? Does he have a field shelter?

Start of with a mediumweight and if he's not warm enough buy a heavy!! Always have a spare if he needs to live out 24/7 cos the damage is always done when the shops are shut!!

Start off with a medium and see how he gets on you can always step up to a heavy weight/ combo if he feels the cold! Will depend on his condition/ weight etc to what rug he will be best in.
