sleep!!!!!!!!!!
annoyed husband as i never home!!!!!!!!!!!!
never have a clean car
smell like a horse
no money to spend
no friends other than horsey friends!
The biggest is definitely time... I struggle to see my friends enough out of school because I'm always competing/riding/mucking out/something else horsey!
And I would have more money to spend on other things if I didn't have her...
but... it's what I love... so worth it!
Pretty much everthing everyone else has mentioned!
Plus I sacrificed having children - I knew I couldn't afford both and I chose horses! Thankfully OH was in agreement.
2. Social Life - I am rubbish sometimes and don't see friends for weeks. Luckily all my friends are very understanding - and happy even if i turn up smelling of horse poo!
3. Children too - can't afford both! As above hubby agrees - we're both teachers so get enough of kids every day anyway!
4. Long holidays - we used to spend our 6 weeks going off on adventures. Now we usually go to France on his motorbike for 7 - 10 days. I hate being away from my horses and dogs for any longer!
Sleep, Time, A normal smell, a wardrobe...
I compete most weekends so don't really see friends out of school...thankfully they get it
haven't been on a holiday since erm... 5 years ago? and that was with a friend.
Would have more money to spend on myself as pay for most of my horses things apart from the major things like livery, vets, farrier etc... but still... i like spending money on a hat and rugs and other probably un necessary things...
buut its all worth it
Well due to horses I have lost my marriage, my sanity and my house, I have not bought any new clothes for years, I scrimp and save on feeding myself, I live in a mobile home now, I never go on holiday, hardly ever go out other than around to a friends house for a cup of tea.... so everything in my life really!

Lack of time and constant tiredness...getting up at 5am every day takes it's toll! My wardrobe is horrendous as I just never buy clothes at all.

you sound just like me! This winter has been particularly bad due to all the dreadful weather we've had. Getting up at 5am is bad enough but battling through snow and ice to get to the yard just makes it so much worse.
My other major sacrifice is holidays - I have not had one for years.
I used to go to hairdresses to stay blonde but now dye my hair dark myself that saves £50 every 6 weeks covers a set of shoes
never buy clothes .......... my horse has a fantastic wadrobe.
My OH cant understand why I spend £100 on boots to ride in and wear at yard and stand in poo but wont go out and spend £40 on a pair of smart high heel boots to wear with jeans, .........thats haylage for a month.
nails and hands well forget that when you are mucking out every day, did my nails myself yesterday(chipped by today) saved £20 thats diesel to a show next weekend.
spray tan dont bother as I dont have time to go out anywhere my friend spends £10 a week thats £40 ..... feed for the month.
Taking my son to a fun factory playzone place on weekend costs £10 he gets to run around fields free with the other kids and has fresh air thats another £40 saved, ..... Money for lessons
Weekends are taken up going to shows so to knackerd to go out, so what I would spend going out is spent on entry fees/diesel.
Usually have a party or somthing at my house that way we can socialise without having to pay for babysitter (saving £20)
no taxi home saving £15.
REally liked this post...
you have great money saving ideas!!!, I like it!!!
Well, my biggy, is living out in the middle of nowhere, and dont see a face of clay from one day to the next.. very isolated.. and when its bad weather, its horrible
The usual - hair, hands, nails, clothes, shoes, handbags etc.
Friends! (non-horsey)
A clean tidy house
A clean tidy car
A huge fairytale wedding
Holidays
A pleasant feminine aroma!!
Clothing, shoes etc being clean and not covered in mud and/or straw
Also, I'm at the stage in my teaching career where I need to start applying for promotion to management, but although that means more money it also means working more hours therefore not enough time for my horse! SO - my future career/employment prospects!!!!

Luckily I love my horse and my three dogs a lot

Oh no! Don't know what to say. Sending you as many good vibes as I can.
Yup we're broke, hands are wrecked. No time, wardrobe, nights out, clean shiny cars, kids, house is half finished, and no we wouldn't be without our 2 horses and 3 dogs either. They ARE our life.

... in terms of time, money and other aspects of your life, if you don't mind my asking?
[/ QUOTE ]
All of the above!
Time
Money
Sleep
Nice clothes
Decent car
Social life is limited
No holidays
Think I could go on, but as hard as it is and with often very little reward (she is mostly retired due to pedal bone) I love my mare to pieces and could not imagine life without her
pretty much everything most people would consider normal and my sanity!
Re hair - my hairdressers does what they call a fasttrack standby, if you call in the morning and they've got a gap in the diary they'll do a proper cut for £17.95 instead of the usual £30+
that's when i'm not being a total cheapskate and putting myself down for stylsit assessment = free!
My OH constantly reminds me that if i didnt have a horse I could have a nice new car like his!!
Unfortunatley for him, the horse is staying, so the micra is too!
i used to have long hair and got it all cut short so instead of being 35 quid its now £8! horses did like to chew it and it was a pain with my job too( copper) always someone wanting to pull it!
i get p*ss ripped out me at work for gooing over something the horses did and never wanting to have kids. My life is my horses and my dog, i have given up on relationships and i certainly dont want kids, got money from my mum at xmas at bottom of the card was a p.s not to be spend on the horses, but it was! any spare cash i have goes on them! i just bought a pair of woof boots and jeffries reins for my mare last week. my tracksuit bottoms got sewn up last month by my neghbour who was sick of looking at all the holes! asda do £3 quid jeans and jogging pants that i get now n then. i would never change my life, i love the horses, just wish my work mates would accept it and not keep going on at me to get married and have kids! theres 37 coppers at my work 35 of them are married with kids! plus they are all in 40s + im 27!
im so glad you put this post up, nice to have bit assurance its not just me!
