Any recommendations of leather saddles would be greatly appreciated :)

Saddle fitter will be bringing a selection to try however an idea of what others use would be helpful. I'm a bit apprehensive about purchasing a new saddle as Iv only bought one from new which I've used for the past 5 years & don't want to make an expensive mistake!

Im about to finally buy a new saddle for my high withered horse, Ive tried a fair few since buying him as have had various issues that have meant I didnt want to spend loads on a new saddle for a potentially broken horse, all resolved now hopefully. He also has a huge shoulder that pushes them back so another problem as even a 17 inch ends up sat too far back. But the best for him have been Albion, Farrington and Prestige. I went everywhere to find a Kent and Masters, high withered version and it didnt fit :(

I've tried lots, but ended up with an old Excell GP. It's quite forward cut and is such a comfy fit. Good luck.

I know it isn't leather but I use a Thorowgood High Wither GP with a wide gullet on my elderly high withered part Arab. The saddler fitted it by using a half pad to fill in the hollows on each side. If she gets fatter I use a thinner pad. Perhaps the leather versions would be worth trying for fit.

Another vote for Kieffer I have a Garmisch GP for my high-wither, big shoulder, short-coupled BWB. I've had a fair few saddles including a made to measure dressage but both of us like this more than any other.

I paid LOTS for a made to measure Barnsby saddle for my high withered big shouldered Shagya mare, it never worked for her. Glen Hasker took over the Barnsby agency in France and in spite of trying to 'ease' the tree could not make it fit for her.

He kept her measurements and swapped for a Passier Saddle, new and unused by an unhappy French customer. The leather quality is not a patch on Barnsby but it is perfect for her.

My ISH has reasonably high withers and has an Albion K2 GP saddle which fits him very well. Saddle fitter has also altered it so it now has an interchangeable gullet too! :)
