I am looking for a new saddle for me. I would like a nice comfortable GP. What make would you recommend? Needed for a Large ID. I am a fuller seated lady and this will be the last ever saddle I buy. I do not compete myself any more. Currently have Stubben dressage and kieffer GP but find them quite hard in the seat.

I think it's very difficult to advise as to brand. Sometimes what you think you want is not what you and your horse needs. It has to suit you both. I would suggest booking a good saddle fitter who can bring a selection of saddles within your budget range for you to try.

A vogue GPT - what I did buy lol - beautiful soft english leather, memory foam seat - trust me you won't ever ride on anything else without moaning!

One that fits the horse perfectly. If it's not a great fit for me, tough. I can get off and walk. The horse does the hard work.

If you need a large wide seat (god knows why you've got a stubben or keiffer if that's the case! ?) then there are various brands with extra width across the panels and seat. Barry Swain in particular comes to mind

Thank you all for the comments.

It goes without saying that of course the final choice of saddle will be which fits the horse best. I wanted to find out what is new to the market. I have bought in recent times saddles for other people to ride my competition horses in.

The two current saddles for this horse are about 30 years old and were at the the time bought when we were posted to Germany and my German trainer and the saddler said they were the best and most comfortable at the time on the market. How things have changed. I will be looking at the saddles mentioned. Both my current saddles for this horse are well looked after and checked by the saddler twice a year. The last twice he did not have to do anything to them.

Due to meds that I have been on my weight and also shape have changed from the slim thing I was when I first married.

well, my large IDx is in a K2 at the moment and has used an APG Equine with a Barry swain semi-flex tree but what fits him might not fit yours.
Have to say that the APG is one of the comfiest saddles I've ever owned.
