I've had my horse for about 6 years now and hes a middleweight idxtb/ISH and in that time I've been thru lots of saddles none of which have fitted and am going to get rid of latest one but cant afford to yet, its a Stubbe. medium tree. I need one with bigish flaps due to my long legs. Hes also got a high wither.

But I was wondering what you have on idxtbs/ISH's.

I have a stubben rc seigfried monoflap 17 1/2" 28 width.

I have had the saddler out twice in the 18 months I have had her. Once she told me to use a front riser gel pad, the second time, as we think she has stopped growing, she reflocked it.

Had a wintec 500 for my TbXiD it gave him muscle wastage now have a saddle company WH and very pleased so far.

Ideal Springbok jump saddle and an Albion Style dressage saddle

The springbok is fab, and he seems to like it, the albion looks like it was made to measure

Ideal Suzannah dressage saddle and the Albion K2 jump for my irish gelding. Im extremely pleased with the fit and feel of both of them!

I've got an ID gelding & use a Wow on him. He's seriously wide across his wither & this increases even more when he's schooling so he's in the widest but one headplate.

Saddle company verona event on my ISH. They are fully adjustable and have kind serge panels. Also used saddle co on my last 2 Horses, one a TB cross ISH and the other TB cross Holstein.

Sue Carson Harmony dressage, narrow twist....i'm slim hipped. Sue Carson jumping saddle. Both have flair. Very comfy and have been successfully adjusted to fit, in ordre: 17.3 ID/TBx; 16.3 ISH,15.3 TB, 14.2 Welsh D ...and yes, I am going down the size ranks in horses. No lower!

Ideal rowella dressage saddle, and currently a K2 jump but waiting to try an ideal springbok as though the impala fitted horse perfectly, it did nothing for me!

My ID (supposedly X TB but you can't tell) has a Wintec 2000 GP and a Wintec Pro dressage. Both were hand-me-downs from my last pony, 14.1hh Welsh Cob. Both my saddler and my instructor/YO said they had never seen a saddle fit so naturally well on a horse without adjustment than my 2000 on my horse! Which is rather amazing for a Wintec (trying-to-fit-everything saddle)

My saddler is fab though and came out every six months to check the fit and adjust the dressage saddle so Maiden was quite happy in them. Of course he only came out twice before she got injured... If I could ride her "properly" again I would love to have either a Wow or two Ideals - the two most comfortable types of saddle I have ever sat in!

I hope so Kat because I could not ride for toffee in the impala! Kept losing my lower leg behind me, very embarrassing!

Not a nice feeling!!

The Impala is quite forward cut though isnt it? Also thought it was quite alot of saddle...its amazing what a difference the single flapped saddles have to security IMO

Problem for me was it wasn't forward cut enough - my knee was forced down and under the knee block which sort of pinned it and I lost my leg backwards - couldn't even keep it under me over a x pole and only tried a 1m upright, didn't even bother with a spread as it was obvious I couldn't ride in it! I ride short and am long from ankle to knee I think. I am hoping the springbok is more forward cut/knee block is in a better place.

Saddler is also bringing an albion kontact I think, but the ideals fit the horse so well I am hoping I can ride in the springbok!

Ah ok, was prob the knee block was in the wrong place? The Springbok is very forward cut, as it has very little knee roll so there is lots of room in the flap, but it gives the right amount of support! I ride very short XC and could go shorter, but it doesnt look as forward cut as the Impala.... let us know what you think when you try one

Why did you decide to get rid of your K2?

Only because it doesn't fit perfectly, even after rebalancing, and it's not fair to ask him to jump round novice tracks and school over intermediate in a less than perfect saddle. I really like it for me!

I have a thorowgood highwither T4 GP because my TBxID has just turned 5 but I also have a Ideal Ramsay because i show him and that is medium wide!
