What shiny new things would you buy for shiny new pony?

lessons with the best trainers possible. Just back from a clinic and amazed at the amount of people who have absolutely the shiniest fanciest stuff and a horse that isn't ridden properly to do basic xc stuff. It's madness to see someone who has spent 180 quid on stirrups but doesn't understand how to ride a horse in a straight line onto a 60s fence. Sorry rant over!

Have to say I agree with this, my mare has a brown bridle and a black saddle and a sweat rug with a hole in it, but I'm spending a small fortune on lessons while we get to know each other!

But in the spirit of the thread, If I win the lotto tomorrow a prestige saddle, I visit the stand just to stroke them at the Dublin horseshow every year...😜

Oooh, great thread! If money was no object:

For current horse:
• Zilco bridle for hacking
• Patent bridle for schooling
• JIN stirrups
• Patent headcollar
• Dressage saddle
• Back on Track rug
• Eskadron saddle pads in a number of colour combinations
• Lansdown rug

For me:
• Le Chameuax wellingtons
• Ariat long riding boots
• Complete riding outfits from Kingsland/Noble Outfitters/Mountain Horse & Ariat
• Uvex hat

... a girl can dream :D

When I bought a new horse I already had a ton of stuff from previous horses and the new one came with almost everything but I did buy some new things anyway. I got new headcollars and leadropes, water buckets because I like a particular type, three turnouts one fleece one exercise sheet and one wool rug because the ones she came with were not a good fit, a saddle because she did not have one, two good bridles because I disliked the cheap ones she came with, I restrained myself to one numnah and used some of the old ones I had, girths because she had none and I did not already have any in her size. I am always seeing shiney new things I would like to buy. On the wish list is a Lemieux saddlecloth, a leather headcollar and a cotton stable rug. A set of brushing boots for jumping might be nice too.

If money was no object, what would you go out and buy for new pony?

Twelve or so acres of appropriate grazing, with plenty of natural shelter, and a shallow, flat stream stemming from its own underground spring for water. The grazing would have a secure ten foot high boundary of post and rail fencing, with wire mesh along the outside to keep out dogs, etc, and a thick thorn hedge to the inside.
A couple of companion ponies, friendly, well mannered, and in perfect health.
An advanced robot of some kind, that would follow the ponies around and tend to their every need in my absence. The robot would be a sort of poo picking, weed eliminating, fly killing, vet, dentist, physio, and farrier combination. It would also dispense polo mints.
A big open plan barn for the occasions when the ponies needed to come in.
A second barn to store hay and straw, etc.
A perfectly secure tack room, heated to keep my tack from going mouldy. The tack room would be filled with made to measure tack.
A heated rug room, which would probably never see use, but still nice to have.
A second robot, this one armed with lasers, to guard aforementioned feed, bedding, and equipment.
A massive indoor school, with lights, in case I wanted to ride indoors in bad weather. Obviously there would already be plenty of off road hacking amid the twelve or so acres!
A small tea room with a loo and a shower.
A self-maintaining muck heap, probably another robot needed for that.
Regular lessons with a good instructor, and occasional trips out to clinics or fun rides for a change of scenery.

Well, you did say if money was no object...! :D

Kitteninthexmastree - I think you forgot the retractable roof on the indoor school for when that perfect weather hits, the amazing off Road hacking on the humongous estate next door, a couple of 100% like minded friends to hack with and go to shows with ... oh and a well stocked bar in the tea room?!:D

Ah yes, those too! Especially the last one...:D

if money was no question...hmm....
well thinking of my current horse:
1) I would probably get a couple ps of Sweden bridles to see which one she liked most
2) I would pay to get the top ten saddlers in the world to come all at once to discuss and fit the best possible saddle for her and me (saddles are the bane of my life :( I don't care how much anymore or what it looks like I just want one to fit us both properly)
3) I would get 2 flatwork lessons and 1 jump a week with top trainers
4) ooh and one of those video cameras that follow you around the arena so I can look back and analyse each ride
