Right in the usual HBII manner of thinking about things I have suitable confused myself for the best way forward with a saddle issue I am currently having .....

So any suggestions of any types, any answer will be considered, from a do this to a smack up the butt

.

Current saddle does not fit

, this has been looked at by my instructor and even I can see it doesnt fit. Mare is begining to pull faces when girthed up too. Other details available upon request ....

So WHAT do I do for the best .... ?

[1] Get a saddler to check it and confirm it doesnt fit - then fast forward to point [3] or [4].
[2] Get saddle to check it and what happens if they say it needs reflocking ... then months down the line I am back to square one? [I personally dont think this will work .. the saddle when girthed up can be pushed up from the back by about 1 to 2 inches

so it tips forward].
[3] DIY .... with assistance from knowledgable person ... get a Bates dressage with changeable headplate and see how that goes.
[4] Continue saving for a WOW .. in the vain hope I can find a good fitter ......... [with the view to get jumping flaps too]
[5] Other suggestions .....

HELP

Dont ride in the saddle anymore is rule number one! If shes pulling faces then shes not comfortbale and you could be causing her pain.

I would then get a decent saddler out to fit you a second hand saddle thats cheap but going to be comfy for you both. In the mean time carryon saving for the wow and sell your current saddle on ebay (if you cant send it back).

its not too drastic - your saddle is too wide - therefore it drops down at the front and lifts at the back. As a temporary solution get yourself a PROLITE WIDE relief pad - it must be a prolite as it will allow your horse to muscle up underneath. the prolite will mould to your horses back shape but fill the gap under the saddle. Do not buy a front riser as that will unbalance the saddle. If it still lifts slightly then you can use a sheepskin high wither numnah under neath as well.

Do not get a knowledgeable person to fit saddle - get a qualified person to do it. Unfortunately there are far too many 'knowledgeable' people out there who really are not that knowledgeable.

If you can get a qualified fitter to check it - they can possible alter the width of the saddle and then flock to template. A saddle does not fit for life and yes it is quite likely that several months down the line it won't fit the horse - but that is the same for any saddle. And it is infintely cheaper to use a prolite and have a refit than it is to buy a new temporary saddle such as the bates.

My saddles did this so my saddler came out and adjusted the saddles.
Saddles can be adjusted just not many times.
So i would get saddler out and they should be able to sort it.
