What should i paint the interior of a stable with?

I want to paint the interior of a couple stables as they don't get much sun and seem quite dark inside, hoping if i paint them white it will brighten them up. What sort of paint is best/safe. They are out at the moment so there is no rush to get rid of any paint smells!

I just use cheap white emulsion with black bitumenous paint on the bottom half.

We used masonary paint too. Def go for black on the bottom part or it'll look pretty pooey pretty quickly as ours does (YO would only let us do cream, no black
