What should I pay ?

I have a "Saturday" girl teenager, who turns out and does a muck out for me. I do the nets as I weigh them and usually the water. What should I pay her ? I think I may have been too mean. In the summer she just brings in and grooms and does one poo barrow from the paddock. Initially she came up to the yard because she had just started having lessons at the local RS but didnt get any other hands on time and enjoys brushing and learning about headcollars, rugs etc, which she had no idea about. What would be fair?
 
I would pay her £8 a visit assuming it takes an hour or under. I have someone similar but with a bit more experience (she has her own pony but no formal training) and I am paying her £10 a visit to muck out 2, do water and bring in. For someone with experience who I would trust /rely on to check them while I'm not there I would expect to pay £12 to £15.
 
Probably less than an hour,. I take her up and drive home and do the other horse, been paying £5 but I suppose £5 not much these days !
She didnt expect me to give her anything as she just wanted to play with the horses !

I think £5 is more than fair if giving lifts (and let's face it experience to a more novice type)
 
£5 seems fair to me, about a standard hourly rate for a teenager. I'm 18 and get paid £30 to do 8 hours of yard work so I don't think your being unfair at all especially as she is getting good experience out of it.
 
I pay my ladies £10 an hour. But they are women who have their own horses and lots of experience. If it were a teen with not much experience I think £8 an hour is more than generous. I think I pay a little too much really for what i get done, but I was desperate and needed to say £10 an hour to get interest.
 
£5 isn't a lot, but if she's still fairly young and you give her lifts then it's quite fair. If you feel guilty, maybe occasionally give her a tenner or pay her for some extra work?
