My younger sister is riding my mare for me while I'm away and has said she'd like to take her to a few shows this year. I'm pretty chuffed, as I don't like competing myself, so it'll be nice to cheer from the sidelines
. It just occurred to me today though that I don't know how important having the right kit is (right colours and that sort of stuff). My mare (18 yr old grey Arab) has a black saddle and bridle, but my sister shows her boy (liver chesnut welsh D) in brown tack and has kitted herself out to match. So she has a tweedy brown jacket (I'm not very good on the specifics but that's what it looks like to me!), yellow jodhs, pale yellow shirt and brown boots. I think her hat is navy. I assume that's right for brown tack (haven't really got a clue), but will she look like an idiot if she shows my mare like that? It would only be local pony club shows but I know my sister would rather borrow the right kit than risk anyone thinking she doesn't know what she's doing
