Hi, my daughter has just got a chesnut 12.2 pony, and she wants to do jumping, gymkhanas, and cross country events. What colour show clothes does she need and what do i need for the pony? Any suggestions would be gratefully received as we are new to showing xxThanks

Hello.
For jumping,,
Navy or black show jacket,
White Shirt,
Black or navy tie (depending on jacket),
Cream jods,
Black joddy boots,
Black chaps or joddy clips.

For Gymkhana,
If weathers nice just a shirt and tie.
Jods,boots.

For XC,
You can get quartered Jerseys in which ever colour you like,Most people have matching numnahs/saddlecloths and hat silks.
Jods and boots/chaps.

As for the pony.
For Gymkhana nothing extra, some people put a done up stirrup leather around the pony's neck for extra grab.

Xc you could put over reach boots and boots on,

Same for jumping, over reach boots and brushing/tendon boots.

Edited because i lost the power to spell.

Thankyou for the advice. When you say a quatered jersey do you mean one of those heavy t-shirt with a quatered design on it and normally numbers ? thanks sorry am really new to this !!

Yes that's them.Dont worry about numbers though. When you book in to do the cross country you (daughter) will be given a numbered bib to wear.It is also regulation now for all competitors (XC) to wear a medical armband. You can pick them up cheaply on places like ebay.

And dont forget very importantly the body protector, again another rule.

Also re-reading your post..you will not need to plait the pony for the things your daughter wants to do.If you intend to take part in showing classes then it will need to be plaited unless it is a native pony.

Thanks again, great to hear I dont need to polish and plait. Always wears a body protector after last pony bolted with her (luckily was wearing it then aswell). Will start looking for jersey and black jacket Thanks x
