What silly things does your YO moan about ?

She bitches about the weather a lot ;) and the price of hay.

Everyone is on full livery so not expected to lift a finger - other than to clear up tie up areas if your horse poops there, YO gets everything done just the way she likes it :D:)

I understand that YO like things left clean and tidy. I did keep my horse for a short time at a stable, and the groom asked that any footprints/dirt/mud be swept up when taking the horse in/out the stable.

Fair enough, but she would be complaining as you led the horse out, I always came back imediately and dustpanned the very small amounts that were there.

But much worse was the YO that made personal comments about your riding, ok so not as experienced as her, and working a newly started horse where I was only concentrating on forward, but always a sniping comment.

Further, when my horse was injured she never told me, and did not find out till I got out to the yard.

In a nice way there are 3 rules that have a justifiable hanging sentence.!!!

1 Not picking out feet when leaving a stable
2. Spilling water on the yard,
3. Allowing your horse to eat the hanging baskets or flower arrangements.

Spilling water on the yard! I can understand this when temps below freezing but why would water cause an issue otherwise!??

We have a few rules but a couple that are a bit irritating are no salt licks in the field and no lunging in the arena (even when pitch black and slippery as hell in the field).

Leannepip you are nuts. Please take a pic of the stepped muck heap tomorrow :p
I disagree, I'm slightly anal about muck heaps too :o one of the things that has stayed with me from being a WP/groom :)

My YO is slightly nutty (in a really really good way, she's hilarious!) and doesn't really moan except about dog mess/hay and straw outside the barns. Her usual problem is that she's lost her keys!

I couldn't be doing with having to sweep up every footprint bringing in or turning out, what a pain! In fact I always hated sweeping the yard when I have worked in horsey places, its such a fruitless task... Sweep up hay, go put hay out, hay everywhere again, sweep up hay, go put hay out... Argh! I do love a stepped muck heap though ;-)

I don't think I'd like having to pick up every poo in the school either, don't think I should move to a livery yard any time soon!

I had a wonderful yo with my old boy. She treated the horses like her own when we weren't there and they were treated like kings. However we were on assisted DIY and she was anal about quite a few things. The worst was that if our horse pooped in the tie up area we had to sweep and WASH and scrub the floor!! Other small things too and your name would be put on the board but i thought they were pretty ok reslly. However she was really reasonable. She didn't like me lunging in the school when it was dry as it got a bit deep, but it was so good for my boy we agreed that I could if I levelled the school afterwards.

She was so great and the yard so immaculate I wouldnt have swapped her for anything.

Oh and I'm anal about muck heaps too since she told me how much it cost to get the trailer emptied. Stupid money and do I took on keeping the muck heap tidy. Stepped and trodden fown!! Weird as I was probably the messiest one on the yard apart from that.

Jeepers some people!!!! Get grip. My new yard is wonderful. YO not horsey so he leaves us to it. But old yard a complete nightmare, not for us! No turnout in the rain, just in case u slipped and spooked ur horse WTF!!!!

Can't be doing with some rules, far too precious!

About our unclipped horses getting to hot when in work  it's not that bad really but because we borrow a stable for the one that's out 24/7 to cool down she is not happy because if we clip him we will not take up the stable. :(

It was the brick steps photo substitution I was referring to!

My YO is very good, she likes the place kept spic and span but that's fair enough, as long as your tidy and sensible , considerate towards others she is fine. I've never had any bother with her.

I like the fact she runs a tight ship. Horses are well cared for and no one takes the piss. Just the way it should be.

i'll get one tomorrow and post it :)

i think it is from being a wp too! but not because i used to do it there it would be like the stairs to heaven if you stepped that much heap it was huge!!! i think it was because when i came home and was not spending 14hours a day on the yard i had to find something to do with my time! it is so theraputic i would happily travel around yards daily keeping on top of their muck heap + its warm on your feet too
